Looks like they work at a restaurant.. (which I think fair to take salt).. The buckets are not HD variety but ones for soy sauces and the like. Quote:

The hourly report on the Weather Network is usually pretty accurate.. it seems <1 cm for most of the night.
Remember because of the data and computing resources we have.. we don't have that accurate weather forecast outside 3 days.. (or you can check the EU ones which is good for 5 days because they use more data).
Since it will be sub zero again tomorrow.. there is no need to lay down salt if you are early to clear snow. You don't want the snow to melt and refreeze, and just throw the snow to the side with your shovel tomorrow.. easy peasy. For those who have ice problems.. work on it during the day after the sun has been on the ice for a while, since the ice melt underneath you will have a easier time breaking them up.
Can we have a sticky on salt availability? I told my friends and they managed to get some from Burnaby Walmart. Quote:

I thought the multi unit complex has to be a strata. Most houses that rent out basements are not stratas. Quote:

Greed, lack of knowledge of how to use salt, laziness and selfishness when it came to shoveling, media hyping up the outage of salt just to name a few things that have made it what it is.
Really nobody needs that much salt like fucking seriously I've only used maybe 2-3 lbs worth all winter but that's because myself or my parents in law shovel early. oh humanity we're so screwed when the earthquake comes, I've got my guns and extra ammo ready already though.

This document was from 2004. |
One of my coworkers is a bylaw officer and I had this same question last week that I asked him. He said it's a grey area, unless it has been stated in the lease that the tenant will be the ones responsible for cutting grass and keeping side walks clear then they'd have no incentive to go and do it themselves. After listening to him go on for a while he finally said he'd consider the landlord to be the responsible one.
I shovel my front sidewalk (only one on my block) and have the back lane cleared just in front of my driveway.
I used the chisel end of one of these style bars and it's a very heavy bar. All I needed to do was stab it on the ice and it would crack it. After a couple hundred stabs I had cleared the entire lane way. a few houses down from me there was an asian man and his wife watching me go at it. He saw the end result and the next day he had what looked like a brand new axe that he was swinging into the ice on the ground.
