And they would have complained on the Internet how shitty and incompetent Translink is and that it needs to fire all its management. Also repeated mentions of "my taxpayer dollars".

One peculiar thing was the trains weren't staying on each platform for very long. About half their usual time. This caused a lot of idiocy with people forcing the doors open.

Cue Rene!

Rene is an off-the-job green jacket who just happened to be on our train. He got tired of seeing people force the doors open and yelled at them to 'Stop or the train doesn't move!'

Needless to say, the idiots listened.

However, the damage was done to a particular set of doors. They would not close firmly shut and therefore, the train would not move. Rene was standing far back and asked people to slide the doors closed.

They were useless.

Rene forced his way through the crowd of phone zombies and shut the doors himself. With authority.

He then took his keys, opened the panel door and permanently shut the doors. He then went to the storage box that is near the centre section of the cars, grabs a sign and sticks to the door. He also reiterated to everyone to not use these doors. He also had to tap on the glass to tell people on each platform not to touch the doors from the outside. He also communicated with command central of his actions.

Rene was done his day and just happened to be heading home. Had he not been in that train at that time. There were would have been a massive delay because no one would have known why the train wasn't moving but it was due to typical fuckstains abusing the doors and causing a malfunction.

Thank Dog for Rene. A real MVP. Worth writing to Translink about.
10/10 story. would read again.

What a joke

Quote:
For the fourth time in less than a week, SkyTrain’s Canada Line is experiencing service disruptions due to snowfall and freezing rain.

There is no train service to Vancouver International Airport; trains are only operating from Waterfront Station to Richmond-Brighouse Station.

A bus bridge shuttle is operating between the affected stations from Bridgeport Station to YVR Airport Station.

Issues with the train system began at approximately 9:40 pm.

The Expo and Millennium lines are operating normally, but some buses across the region are experiencing delays and reroutings. Earlier in the day, there were service disruptions on the Expo Line – at Commercial-Broadway Station during the morning rush hour and Gateway Station late-afternoon – due to medical emergencies.

The impact from current service interruptions is likely relatively minimal given that it began late at night instead of during rush hour, but it impacts those who may be catching a flight from the airport this evening.

Previous disruptions over the past week were the result of issues on the North Arm Bridge between Marine Drive Station and Bridgeport Station.

Compared to the system used by the Expo and Millennium lines, the Canada Line’s technology and design is more susceptible to problems from snowfall events

What more do you want from Translink? The STM in Montreal gets delayed all the time during winter, as do their buses. It's not like snowfall is a foreign concept to them over there. Ontario's GO is also in the same boat. They experience bus and rail delays quite often due to the snow. And remember, they're places that experience proper winters, unlike the rainy ones Vancouver usually gets.

Squamish got over 20cm last night, that has just stopped and turned to freezing rain. There is an advisory suggesting to stay off the highways unless you have to travel.

I'm further up in Pemberton, we got over 30cm... I feel like it's more like 40cm or so.
