Maybe sub groups?

There are many tribes, though some share common language with slight dialects. Coast Salish, for example, is a language spoken by many tribes on the East Coast of Vancouver Island and also the Squamish Nation and others here on the West Coast.

I found snow on East Harrison FSR. But it was just a light dusting, nothing to have fun in :(

So a nation is made up of bands, which are in turn, are made up of tribes...........

Puts a whole new meaning to the saying, "Too many Chiefs and not enough Indians."

Snowing by granville island right now.

pastarocket 02-08-2021 01:57 PM

It's also pretty heavy snowfall in east Van now.

Snow is not sticking to the ground, so far.

Euro7r 02-08-2021 02:15 PM

Sunny in South Vancouver area right now, but saw a few flakes flying around.

Weather shows snow Wednesday; hopefully that happens. I have a court appearance for my VI allegations I am disputing.

anti-vip 02-08-2021 08:42 PM

^^thought you can't dispute VI?

First snow of the season for DT Vancouver. Enjoy boys and girls.

stewie 02-13-2021 06:43 AM

White gold! Time to take the dog to the park and throw snowballs at her.

StylinRed 02-13-2021 06:51 AM

Is there a lot of snow in van? Just a light dusting here

SSM_DC5 02-13-2021 06:58 AM

1 - 2 inches in Vancouver. Driving home this morning sucked.

MG1 02-13-2021 08:21 AM

Damn, just looked out the window. Looks like a lot here in North Burnaby Monticeto So much for sleeping in till noon. I’m not going to bother shoveling the driveway. It’s all going to melt by tomorrow, right?

Driving in Vancouver this morning sucked because even the main roads that I travelled on do not appeared to be plowed. It was past 9am this morning, and whatever tracks there were on the road is made from cars driving over the snow.

I read last night that the City was preparing its road crew for keeping the arterial roads clear. I guess the main roads that I drove on weren't considered arterial enough?

MG1 02-13-2021 11:11 AM

I love this snow. Weekly shopping with the kids was a breeze. Nobody at No Frills on Broadway and Kent's Kitchen as deserted. Even Manpuku was empty.

Penda Gai was clear, but Keefer was compact snow.

A week ago, there was salt and brine all over the road when the temperature dropped ... as it turned out, no snow. Now today, snow was forecasted, but no sign of salt or brine or plows out ... most major roads covered with 2-3 inches around 8:30 am. Is it cuz it's Saturday?

It's cuz they ran out from a week ago lol

MG1 02-13-2021 01:55 PM

Apparently, and according to Mainland, the brine was going to work. It didn’t rain and the conditions were ideal. Somehow, it didn’t work well in certain area. The streets I drive on were clear with no issues. I also noticed the snow in my neighborhood was the super light, powdery stuff. I salted (Alaskan Ice Melt) after shoveling and wow, what a difference. Clear and dry as a bone.

Pretty sure I saw fresh brine on the road 2-3 days along most arterial roads in Vancouver.

CoV and other municipalities are probably short staffed due to COVID. I did hear snow plows before lunch today.

lilaznviper 02-13-2021 02:22 PM

had to drive out for work this morning and surprised most of the roads where pretty clear. also not a lot of traffic, made it a quick drive to work.

BIC_BAWS 02-13-2021 02:39 PM

I'm surprised with Delta. Might be because I live on a bus route, but my entire street and the associated streets were all plowed by 9AM LOL
