I was working at an outsourcing firm years ago and we were working on a major project with Central1 to streamline their HRIS and payroll between their payroll systems and benefits portal. The project was a complete nightmare -- Archaic tech on their end, lack of QA, obscure nonsensical requirements. The project went on for years and was never quite successful, it was one of the hardest clients/projects we worked on. It came to the point where we were ready to fire them as a client in order to simply close off the entire implementation. To this day it's barely functioning without tons of manual processes and duct-tape solutions. It makes perfect sense why this credit union app is such utter garbage. |

They hire new employees on a contract on-call basis, meaning you're not given any defined hours, and expected to be fully on-call. Who in the hell in this city can take on a new job in a non-defined hourly basis? Add to the fact that on many of these ferry routes they expect you to reside near the actual route. My nephew for example works on the Langdale route, when he started his hours were all over the place, some weeks none, some a bunch, you're called early in the morning to be told whether or not you'll be working that day. This is compounded by the fact that many of these communities no longer have any affordable rental supply, who can or will work these initial gigs on the ferries? Back in the day you could find an affordable rental or place in Sechelt/Gibsons/Langdale, now you can't. That combined with variable hours = good fucking luck finding people. |

That’s the way Vancouver school board works as well My buddy worked casual there for like 3 summers and had to have a second job before finally getting on full time. School board is a garbage job though and you’d be insane to wait any length to get on with them |
Drove to Seattle to visit family. Big ass puddle across the 99 before the border lanes, and the fucking lineup lanes are iced and unplowed. My bumper shaved off some of that surface slush in the Nexus lane. Once I got across though? It might as well be April weather. |
Port Mann still closed wtf.. |
What's with all the floods and puddles I'm hearing? I thought it would be fine once the streets have been cleared of snow, but now I'm hearing about extreme icy conditions, puddles, floods, potholes the size of a car (on Knight Bridge), lol wtf.. I've been holed up at home with a newborn for the past week, and I don't mind using him as the perfect excuse to not leave the house for anything, including work. |
Ive been driving thru vancouver and burnaby for the past 2 hrs and ive seen nothing that should be cause for concern. Maybe if ur taking a bunch of side streets or alley ways driving on summer tires u might be in a abit of trouble...... |
Sea2sky closed, Duffey closed. No way in or out of whistler. Normally I’d give up a nut to be trapped in whistler with no way for everyone to get up there but with rain levels around 8000ft tomorrow, sounds no bueno. |
yes time to change to swimsuit to swim on vancouver street and road or even bridge or even massy tunnel !!! |
I went out to Maple Ridge today. Made the mistake of taking United Boulevard then onto the Mary Hill Bypass. Went through a huge lake at a fair clip - all four tires were submerged, lol. Kept my cool and just steered as straight as I could. The water slowed the truck right down. At the time, it just looked like any other puddle of water. The truck did well, but the VTM-4 light and Check Engine light came on. I stopped as soon as I could at the side of the road and turned the engine off and back on. The VTM-4 light went away, but the check engine light did not. I wasn't that worried, because the light wasn't flashing. Was going wait till I got home to reset the light. After a few hours of driving around, the CEL went out on its own. I also missed the huge pothole on Lougheed just outside of Maple Ridge. Lots of cars on the side of the road with flat tires. Large puddle of water covering a sink hole from what I heard on City News 1130 and Traffic Radio 730 am.. https://bc.ctvnews.ca/how-to-get-you...amage-1.358605 |
Anyone have photos of those potholes on Knight Street and Maple Ridge? |

https://twitter.com/jammonravager/st...KvjtWT4oQ1C3QA somebody saved all the TikTok videos of the Seattle storm. Some great stuff in there. It was definitely way worse in Seattle than here. |
Do they have the tiktok where someone's trying to stop their car from sliding down a hill and almost gets run over by their own suv? |

Got a nice unexpected Christmas card from the neighbor that I was helping plow during the snow. Even with all the plowing the uHaul truck couldn't make it up the hill. So, I lined up my plow to the hitch and gave them a push. Truck didnt make it the first run. So, I cleared a larger spot at the bottom of the hill, and we gave her a good Ol push and she made it up. https://i.imgur.com/8VPoExM.jpg |
