OMFG, the snow was uber heavy. Not sure why I even bothered. I finished just in time to watch the Blue Jays game. Looking out now, it's definitely melting. It's a Sunday, so no letter carrier to worry about. Dude is like a really nice guy. I'd hate to be the reason why he slips and falls.

I live on a bit of a hill - top end. Saw this Corolla stuck. Young driver. I just ignored him/her. Tires were summers/all seasons. If you're dumb enough to go out with those tires, you get no sympathy from me. After awhile, driver gets out and lays pieces of carpet down and eventually manages to get going. I was tempted to scold him/her for driving in theses conditions without snow tires. putting others at risk. But, I didn't. No longer random acts of kindness for me. Fricken cheap ass asian. Had carpet knowing........... anyway.

Snow was heavyweight, our temporary gazebo structure collapsed at 6:30 this morning

Good thing i got out the snowblower early enough before the sun started melting it into a slush mixture. First time really using it since i replaced the carb on it and had a good test run along the whole block front sidewalk

Yeah, my driveway is a bit wider and a lot longer. I decided to cover half of it a few years back. Best decision ever. Now I only have to shovel about the same amount as you. I'm not going to shovel the snow today, though. It'll be all gone by evening. The truck is under cover, so no need to even shovel a path to get to it.

Snow is definitely heavy. My neighbour is 100 years old (literally) so I shovelled her sidewalk as well. 200’+ of sidewalk in total. Took the boy for a sled ride after (me pulling) then we built a snowman for him to demolish with his ninja skills.

Not even noon yet and I’m pooped.

I know a family friend who used to own a pretty big home in West Van. British Properties area. 8000 square foot home.

She had a heated driveway. Just flip a switch to heat the driveway to melt snow.

Some ballers do not even have to hire people to shovel snow at their homes.

You are a baller in my book if you have detached.
I would love to have drive way to plow, back yard to mow.
Perspectives...

It's warm outside, melting snow real fast, lakes and rivers everywhere... hard to believe it was snowing so much to knock out my power, just last night ...

There is no need to romanticize being an owner of a detached house. The amount of maintenance and the associated costs -- both in time and $$$ -- that a house needs is on a whole different magnitude compared to townhouses and condos.

You choose your poison, and you take in both the good and the bad. Increasingly, I feel like I should have gotten myself into some sort of large town home with a 2 car garage and suck up the $600+ monthly strata fees. But alas, that wouldn't make sense now -- at least not yet.

I have me one of these snow sleigh shovels and it makes handling my driveway tolerable. I huffed and puffed while my kid had a blast.

Yes that’s all fine and dandy until you’re stuck on lions gate like every other retard. People with 8000sqft homes over 10 million shouldn’t have to deal with those sort of problems. Move to van west.

If your house is worth 10M it stands to reason that you might not need to commute downtown.. especially during rush hour. Pretty sure those folk can be more choosy with their time compared to us plebs.

8" of snow. Melty wet snow sucks. No sidewalks on my side of the street so I get to laugh at the Vancouver snow clearing bylaws. I do clear a path for people to walk anyways.

Did my 25' single car driveway, 75' of walkway including my recently widowed retired neighbor's. She woke up from a nap thinking he was shoveling, then remembered. =(

I'd guess even if they do need to make their way downtown daily or wherever, they can probably hire/own a private chopper.

I remember reading an article that some Amazon/MS executives in Seattle basically commute in choppers, and they even list out the whole cost... something like $350USD hourly rate with a set price for his daily commute. Definitely not out of the question if one's a lawyer/doctor who still needs to commute almost daily but has crazy hourly rates.

Private choppers are much more expensive than that, I've looked into getting my licence locally, the hourly was 550$-700$/hr for a Cabri G2 or R22. Double it for a "decent" bigger helicopter...

Unless you buy the heli and hire a desperate new pilot for 8$/hr. (Main reason preventing me from getting the licence, slave labour for first 1-2 years after going 80k in debt)
