Driving to work this morning and saw a late 70s / early 80s Pontiac Trans Am on eastbound Lougheed around Underhill that was abandoned and backwards! Owner must have drove it yesterday morning which didn't age well.

Me too, and that's why I went for the 80v version as it should have more power than the 40v ones.

I was stuck on hwy 91 eastbound last night, took 4 and half hours to get home after seeing that reddit post someone posted earlier, I don't feel so bad for getting stuck for so long, just thankful I wasn't involved in an accident.

Once the traffic was cleared, the section from no.6 road til the s curve (westminster hwy exit) on hwy 91 was still icy af, I tried braking because no1 was close behind and beside me and I was sliding

So many idiots tailgated last night after the accidents were cleared and also this morning.

Note to self: stay off any and all highways during snow events as they provide little to no escape from backups or pileups. Even flat and straight as fuck ones like Hwy 91.

I look at the weather multiple times a day, every day. The forecast did call for snow at 2PM, which they revised since it was clear, then the storm still came so they were technically wrong since it did show up, but it wasn't a complete out-of-nowhere storm.

that's why i cancelled my richmond thursday trip, i knew the bridge was gonna be f'd, and if it wasn't, the highway would be, which by default mean the bridge would be.

As I expected, the cold winter weather is affecting parts of the airport.

A pipe burst at YVR. One section of a domestic terminal was flooded after a pipe burst.

Other than that, I have not heard any news about flight delays because of the weather. Business as usual.

https://vancouver.citynews.ca/2024/0...te-flood-pipe/

Vancouver International Airport confirms to CityNews that a pipe leaking near one of its gates sent water flooding into a section of the domestic terminal.

“Our operations and maintenance teams have secured the area and are working to repair the leak. Work is also underway to remediate. Operations are not affected,” the Vancouver Airport Authority said in an email just after 2 p.m.

Went battery powered as I'm in Vancouver after all, plus there's a gas lawn equipment ban coming up I've heard?

I need a leaf blower as well, so looking for a deal as they use the same battery system. This one came with 2x 4ah batteries, I did the equivalent of a 2 car driveway and used 1/5 of the battery capacity. Guessing that for our typical wetter snow the run time would get reduced for the power need.

I loved having the led headlights on it, having extra light was great. Unit size weight was no different from a typical lawn mower., maybe a touch heavier.

I went with this model with the soft paddle. For you guys in the valley, there's a steel auger model, some folks on Rfd have mentioned that they bought the auger separately and installed it themselves as it's a common drive unit.
I have the Ego leaf blower, hedge trimmer and chainsaw. Might have to add the SB to the mix

I left at 2PM yesterday. Got home in 40 mins. Not bad. Beats last year - being on the Westminster on ramp from 4:00PM to 3:15AM lol

Anybody making an ice rink in their back yard? In the past, when cities had money, Richmond Fire Dept would flood an area of Garry Point Park for an outdoor rink. Good old Canadian experience. Now Richmond just have ice rinks on the East West Connector/Hwy 91!

Public service announcement

Don’t let your doggies out in this weather. Their paws will get frost bite and quite painful.
If you absolutely have to let them out use vasoline on their paws before and ideally socks.

yep. quite a few people doing this today. "braving it" on the main roads doing 10 under, then there are the full send full on tail gating people zipping around too.

The salt is the problem for my dog. Specifically the blue stuff. I want to throw a brick through the window of the place beside me that uses it. Carrying a 50# dog and a 30# kid if she's not in the mood to walk at the time is not sweet on my old man spine.

Absolutely. That stuff will kill your dog if they lick it. It’s so concentrated and full of chemicals.

It makes a difference for sure. My current and previous dog never care about the cold or salt when it's that stuff but when it's the blue stuff, my old dog would avoid it and current dog literally squeals when it touches her paws.
