I went out at 6am to clear the sidewalks, but its coming down almost as fast as i clear it. Seems kinda moot.

Hondaracer 01-17-2024 07:07 AM

Snow is unusually light for Vancouver snow, managed to shovel entire sidewalk and back patio in about 20 min

but covered in 5 mins :okay:

teggy604 01-17-2024 07:39 AM

COV prep the roads well overnight. Roads are not bad at all. Don't know why Vancouver has to shut down at all.

EvoFire 01-17-2024 07:48 AM

It was originally rain today at noon. Now its going to keep going

N.V.M. 01-17-2024 07:50 AM

can I claim one of those 5 sick days we get now as a snow day?

pastarocket 01-17-2024 08:05 AM

One co-worker claimed a sick day today.

Everyone else is working from home.

roastpuff 01-17-2024 08:08 AM

Drove my wife to work, roads were in meh condition, Highway 1 had no lines visible, same with 152. Lots of drivers doing dumb things in Surrey and on the way to Metrotown as well. Central Boulevard looked unplowed, it was pretty bad.

15 cm. 10 mins with the snow blower.

Hondaracer 01-17-2024 08:23 AM

Not bad.. this is ideal snow for it though, rarely see snow this light

Yeah, used about 1/2 the battery after clearing out my walkways too. I'm still getting used to the workflow. Remembering to remain the chute is the main issue. I forgot at one point and sprayed a bunch of snow into my garage lol.

bcrdukes 01-17-2024 08:35 AM

Did anyone swap to summer tires and park their car on a hill? Please share experience. Thanks. :)

roastpuff 01-17-2024 08:46 AM

If your car was there before the snow fell it should not move. Hope you turned your wheels correctly!

Razor Ramon HG 01-17-2024 09:09 AM

Recycling truck drove by the front of my house while I was shovelling. It was like completely empty and drove off. Guess they said fuck it too, lol.

PeanutButter 01-17-2024 09:43 AM

I'm an independent contractor so I told the guys at work yesterday that i'm not coming in today. The main guy wants everyone in, but eff that. I get it though, he's focused on making money.

Badhobz 01-17-2024 10:01 AM

shoveled 3 times and its a pointless endeavor.

Mikoyan 01-17-2024 10:24 AM

We're at 24/25 cm in Victoria Fairview already. There's 10 cm covering what I cleared this morning.

I shovelled once at 10 and said f it, i'll be back at 3 lol

EvoFire 01-17-2024 10:37 AM

Just shoveled the sidewalk and its more than 20cm it seems. At least it's the light fluffy stuff. It's snowing hard enough that it's getting covered right away.

HonestTea 01-17-2024 10:38 AM

I wonder if I should shovel now or once it stops around 4-5pm? lol

EvoFire 01-17-2024 10:42 AM

Easier on your back now than later if it does warm up a bit. Also less stuff to shovel each time if you break it up
