This is nothing compared to the weather I had to put up with yesterday in Calgary. Blowing snow, -15c temps and roads that look like they hadn't been plowed for weeks...just look the pic below which shows the main road leading out of the airport.

Just be thankfully we live on the coast and we don't have to put up with god awful Calgary like weather for the next 5 months.

Don't fret. I still have my all seasons on, and my tires don't arrive for another two weeks :(

I asked my GF if she wanted me to put her winters on this weekend. She's like "What colour is the ground? Ask me when it's white."

http://img3.weatherpage.ca/s1/heading_synopsis.gifIssued Nov 19th at 2:09 AM http://img3.weatherpage.ca/1px.gif The low pressure system that has already produced bands of showers and flurries across southwestern BC on Thursday currently sits just off the north coast of Oregon.

The low pressure system is slowly moving west and north now to lie over western Washington this afternoon. Bands of showers and flurries will continue to rotate around the centre of the area of low pressure.

The GFS and NAM forecast models bring more bands of showers and flurries to Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley on Friday afternoon and evening as cold air moves westwards out of the Valley. The snow may be a little wet for areas near sea level but about 4cm of snow is likely especially at higher elevations.

The one concern to watch out for is wet snow or rain freezing as the temperature drops. Streets that initially start off wet may turn to sheets of ice in many areas again on Friday evening. Numerous accidents have already occurred on Thursday as a result of careless drivers being unaware that the roads have turned icy.

Another concern is strong outflow winds hitting the area mainly on Friday evening. Winds could be howling from the east or northeast at 50 to 70 km/h during the evening. If this materializes there would be a wind warning issued for that.

Saturday looks drier but colder but there is still a chance of a lingering flurry. Sunday and Monday also look cold and also dry for now. A weak disturbance moving down from the north may bring some light flurry activity on Tuesday night or Wednesday.

Before the next weekend hits the temperature will already be back to normal as warmer Pacific air moves in from the west.
