the forcasts for this week and last week just make me never want to trust weathernetwork ever again!

on a side note: few flurries/small flakes blowing around right now @ ubc.

rexsomnii 01-10-2011 10:45 AM

lol @ rain on thursday friday saturday.

Berzerker 01-10-2011 10:55 AM

The only weather network I'm trusting for the rest of winter is the one that is outside my window. I could give a fuck what they predict now.

Berz out.

hotjoint 01-10-2011 10:55 AM

yup supposed to shit on wednesday then rain for the rest of the week

Yuffa 01-10-2011 10:57 AM

Really want to wash my car. But really don't if it's gonna snow. Anytime now? ARGGGG

twitchyzero 01-10-2011 11:34 AM

Man, reading this thread and looking at the forcast is frustrating as fuck. I'm with Berz - I've just been looking out the window.

Only thing the forcasts do for me is give general idea of what the temps are going to be like. So if it's really overcast and supposed to drop under 0* then I'll expect a bit of snow. My guess is the wind is playing a huge role on whether the systems stay over us long enough for snow to fall and the wind's been really unpredictable lately.

I missed out on the last snow session a month ago (had to do a shit load of video editing for school). I'm not gonna miss it this time!

StylinRed 01-10-2011 01:47 PM

short term and long term forecast say different things; Tuesday it says 6cm but in the long term it also shows Tuesday and it says 20-30cm and 15cm for Wednesday but also 15mm of rain -_-

Very very light snow here by Oakridge. Just took the dog out for a walk and noticed small flakes falling.

Not really racist! 01-10-2011 02:59 PM

The inconsistency of the weather network is amazing.. jesus

Environmental Canada issued a Snowfall Warning at 3:48 PM. Let's just hope its true...

Quote:

Summary
Significant snowfall expected for the south coast for Tuesday night. This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

Details
A frontal system developing west of Vancouver Island is forecast to track towards the South Coast of British Columbia on Tuesday. In combination with cold air filtering down to the coast from the interior, a significant snowfall is expected for Tuesday night. Light snow is expected to fall ahead of the system over Vancouver Island late in the day on Tuesday and then spread to the mainland coast by Tuesday evening. As the system nears, heavier snow is likely late Tuesday evening and overnight into Wednesday morning. Snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are expected by early Wednesday morning. The snow is expected to change to rain on Wednesday morning as the system brings in milder air over the south coast.

Its just starting to snow in surrey... very very light snow

Gumby 01-10-2011 03:18 PM

The only warnings I've seen that were accurate were issued DURING the actual occurrence of inclement weather...

K-Dub 01-10-2011 03:41 PM

The thing about the west coast and our weather is it's so hard to forecast accurately.

Models and runs can change every hour. Would you rather have no forecast of a big event, or a warning to be issued less than 12 hrs in advance?

I believe that they do their best, cause really who wouldn't be excited about a possible 40-50CM dump of snow? But model runs can flip flop and humans are only there to interpret and analyze.
