January 10, 2011 — A system currently looming in the Pacific is set to bring heavy snow to the BC coast, including Vancouver and Victoria.

Get your shovel and winter boots out of storage if you live in Metro Vancouver. You'll likely be needing them this week.

A Pacific low is targeting the coast of BC. That system, coupled with below-seasonal temperatures, could result in significant snowfall accumulations this week.

Vancouver, Chilliwack and Victoria could see between 15 to 30 cm. More than 30 cm is expected for places like Whistler. “It will begin falling Tuesday and continue through Wednesday,” says Brian Dillon, a meteorologist with The Weather Network.

Vancouver was warm enough to avoid snow last week, but the city did see up to 60 mm of rain. Cold temperatures turned the rain to ice in Stanley Park, where the seawall was closed because of the threat of falling ice.

I smell :troll:

TWN is not to be trusted until I see this snow!

Your point? Read it again.

Here, a RECENT ARTICLE stating practically the same thing.

Metro Vancouver

Snowfall warning for
Metro Vancouver continued

Significant snowfall expected for the south coast tonight through Wednesday morning.

This is a warning that significant snowfall is expected or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..Listen for updated statements.

A low pressure system will move west of Vancouver Island this evening and track inland Wednesday. Light snow will begin ahead of the low this evening over Vancouver Island and intensify tonight as it spreads to the mainland. Snowfall accumulations will range from 10 to 20 cm for most of the south coast. Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands will likely receive mixed precipitation with local amounts of 5 to 8 cm. The snow will become mixed with then change to rain Wednesday morning. In some inland areas where the cold air is expected to linger longer the change over to rain will much later in the morning. Strong southerly winds will develop overnight reaching speeds of 60 km/h with gusts to 80 km/h over some sections of the south coast.

We should raid the weather network, call them out on their lies.

Then we'll rename it after RS and predict the weather outselves?

haymura 01-11-2011 11:54 AM

I, for one would prefer if there was no snow but with all the hype going on about a big dump is getting me worked up and expecting that it would snow. Its more of a principle now that we need to see snow just because we got all worked up instead of actually expecting snow because its the norm this time of the season.

RacePace 01-11-2011 12:31 PM

Environment Canada:

Wednesday: Snow mixed with rain changing to rain in the morning and ending in the afternoon then cloudy. Wind southeast 40 to 60 km/h becoming south 30 in the morning. High 7.

= There ain't gonna be shit or will dissipate very quickly

Yes, we'll put a wager on it. Have it televised. "Guess the right weather and win money", something like that. With profits of about $60 a month we can finally get rid of all these stupid ads on this forum.

pure.life 01-11-2011 01:24 PM

the only snow I'll see today is Garth Snow pissing tears when the Canucks trash the Islanders
