It's like the difference between using a dual core Athlon II CPU or a Core i7... They all have the possibility of running the same stuff, but one will be much faster than the other. For me, the speed is important. For her, she wouldn't even know what she's missing out on.

There are certainly some apps that won't run at all on a much slower device. I was testing out cheap tablets the other day, and Angry Birds was HORRIBLE on most of them. That's actually a good benchmark, IMO. If it runs Angry Birds smoothly, it's going to perform sufficiently for most tasks. Just be prepared to wait here and there for apps to load, since the memory is lower.

If you're actually interested in purchasing the LG Optimus 7 or HTC surround, there is a pretty nice deal going on (for a limited time only - till the 19th of december), that you can get a free xbox 360. Its a telus friends and family deal, and i work for them. Just PM me and I'll msg you back asap!

What bothers me the most about WP7 is the wizard interface, no multitasking, the only windows it actually has are those little tiles. It has a lot of catching up to do with Android and Android seems to be making nice large steps forward with every new version.

What is nice about WP7 is mainly for developers that wish to make PC and Xbox live mini games that can run across all 3 platforms.

^i did a bit of research cause i was considering getting a wp7 phone. The platform is so new there's not many developers that are working on modifications to the restricted software. Apparently a hack was made called ChevronWp7...but it was taken away after the developer of the hack had a talk with Microsoft or something like that. Whats this new hack in development going to allow you to do? Free 3rd party apps? More customization?

well my hd2 is windows 6.5 stock. been hacked to run android. and recently, was hacked to run windows 7 by some guys in china (no surprise right? lol) and thats about all that i've heard on it. I've never really bothered to follow up on it since it's not a huge deal to me, but it would be nice to run it
