Windows 7 OS phones Hey guys, I'm curious if the windows phones are any good? Also, what phone have the windows 7 OS on them? |
Only ones I know of are the LG quantum and optimus 7. They're actually not bad, IIRC gsm arena gave the optimus 7 an 8. Posted via RS Mobile |
htc have a whole line up coming out. The surround is out at future shop/best buy already, u should go try out the demos |
Yes they are pretty good, but are missing some basics features like cut & paste, replaceable memory (though they all come with 16GB iirc), tethering/wifi router, app switching, etc. Of course the iphone had that for like 5 years and people kept buying those, so maybe to most people those things don't matter... |
I never trusted the quality of LG and HTC phones. I feel wrong paying $600 for a LG phone. It's like paying 80K for a Hyundai sedan. Anyway, go try the demo it's everywhere in the mall, the interface kind of cool, so much smoother than most of the smart phones out there, but like skinny said, it's missing some simple features, but that shouldn't affect you too much. Win7 is like the old Android 1.5, it probably takes a few years to get popular |
Sorry I had to fail you, but basing your opinion and BRAND over actual quality is just stupid, not to mention HTC has excellent quality hardware, probably the best. |
HTC phones are great. I've had many and none of them ever failed. But yeah.. Windows Phone 7 it's still a bit too early to tell how things will go. |
HTC phones are great. Windows Phone 7 looks cool but I don't like the concept of square widgets. Failing you from my HTC Magic. |
they ruin your microsd cards not sure if its just the samsung focus or all win7 mobiles the only way to reuse ur microsd is to reformat it in a Nokia N8 (possibly other sym^3 phones) there was a story on engadget and some nokia fan (the guy who leaked the firmware videos) suggested it and it worked |

If you had problems, it was probably caused by misuse. |

I'm sure iPhone has an equal amount of problems. There's no such thing as a perfect product. Posted via RS Mobile |
I'ma gonna wait and see how the platform develops. Its really too early to see how its gonna go. There are features that are missing and that memory card issue (or feature, however you see it) is something I'm not too crazy about. |
I was going to get the Samsung Focus, but it hasn't been in Rogers retail stores at all yet since launch. From what I've heard, they will have them in store. I played with a dummy one and man it is light as hell. However, rumors have it is that there will be more keyboard ones coming to Canada, and if this is true, I am waiting for the Dell Venue Pro and hoping it comes to Rogers as I am stuck on them due it being a work phone. |
Android > WP7 > blackberries > iphones. Used to be a symbian person up (n73,n80,n95) but they've been surpassed long time ago and arent even a competitor anymore IMO. i've tried all forms of OS' and android is clearly the greatest... WP7 just came out and i believe that it will overtake android when it matures. just my 2 cents |
HTC HD7 HTC 7 Pro HTC 7 Surround HTC 7 Mozart HTC 7 Trophy They all look the same. Specs come in to pretty close between models too  |

Anyhow supposedly (from thehandheldblog) WIN8 will be out in January? oO |
No lol. But some have said that it contains so many updates, they could have called it that. Posted via RS Mobile |
heh, currently i have a iphone 3g and its falling apart from so many drops. So i want to get a new "different" phone, and I saw that windows 7 could be linked with your xbox gamertag and you could earn achievements and what not on mobile games, im an achievment whoar :P. |
Well, I finally picked up the Focus on Friday and will give you guys a review of what I think once I use it a few more days. My previous phone is an iPhone 3GS, with my gf using an Android handset. So I've experienced them all. I will say this for now, the screen is absolutely gorgeous and the OS is smooth and slick out of all the three. |
I think Android's "segmentation problem" is what has allowed it to catch up to iphone (and bypass it soon).... I have a huge $700 4.3" 1 GHz device with crazy specs, but not everyone wants that. For my sister, there's the <$200 LG Optimus with decent specs. They can both run the same apps, just with a different user experience. If she wants, she can upgrade later. I think the openness of Android is its greatest advantage. |
