the screen is too small for web browsing?.. is time to take this..

Desire HD.. the ture iPhone 4 killer with Android OS v2.2 Froyo **Support flash 10.1**

just got this 2 weeks ago..

The Good:

- The screen is big enough to go online for web browsing.
- Camera with 8mp is enough for a phone and take decent photo and HD video's
- ringtone is LOUD.
- UI run faster then Desire with 2.2
- Hotspot READY
- decent battery life. ( with Always-on ) 1 1/2 days.
- HTCsense lost phone tracking
- can TRANSFER SMS from iPhone.

the bad:

- if you have small hands. this is not your type phone
- kinda heavy
- weird battery and sim card insert design.

overall is not bad.. i changed from iPhone 4 to this... faster internet and easy to transfer data.....

Good Phone..

this screen is still too small for web browsing. Even with the Samsung Galaxy tab, you still have to zoom in and out A LOT.

Ipad is better

I don't see why galaxy tab with its 1024x 600 is too small. I browse all the time on my viliv n5 without any problems.

Desire hd is awesome. Is get it if there were a 850 3g version.

You go to set up on the phone and you are able to transfer sms and stuff from other devices.
I tried transferring SMS from my BlackBerry to my Desire Z and it totally fucked up and started resending all the past messages to the people again. = =

Good Phone..
Telus is getting this next year.
Sense2.2 is nothing spectacular. Nothing beats the speed of stock 2.2,
Your always on, what is always on..care to explain. Most senseUi android phones have sucky battery life to begin with

This review sucks..maybe if i get my hands on it, i can do a real review

I was supposed to buy one this week, but the sale of my original Desire fell through Now I'm trying to get rid of it so I can get an HD.

I hear the battery life is even worse though.. It's only a 1300 mAh battery powering that huge screen

exactly my point with the battery life.
my definition of always on would be say.any application that refreshes on its own int eh background every so often..such as twitter

the no1 power draw on these phones are such applications. Which is why using a custom kernal helps the batt life on devices like the N1 and Desire

I am still torn between this and the Galaxy S. The Galaxy is about $1000 HKD cheaper too.

I'd stick with the desire man. the customization and support seems to be the biggest out of all the android phones out there. Until we actually see a decent device in which dev support draws a larger than usual crowd, i'd stay off the upgrade.

I must say tho, the NexusS looks really attractive; whenever that decides to launch

I know, but I want a bigger screen! I spend almost an hour every other day watching tv on the way to the gym, and in that case bigger is better

I am considering this and the desire z but the battery doesn't look any better than the iphone 4 which I'm getting sick of so I don't think I'll be making the switch.

Anyone care to chime in? iPhone 4 battery doesn't last me a whole day with my level of data usage.

EDIT: Wow 5000HKD for grey import desire HD is too much :/

You won't find yourself using the keyboard much.. when you just want to type something short quick its faster to use the on-screen. As for long typing/texting sessions your whole hand will start to hurt. Also the typing speeds are no where near how fast I can type with a BlackBerry, probably because the keys are so much further; when I type on my BB I just glide my fingers around on my keyboard lol

Hi, everyone:
My frd just came back from TW and brought me back the HTC Desire HD. This is my first smartphone. I have never had any smartphone before and I never had any data plans before either.

So I looked through the Fido Retention Plan thread on RS, called Fido and set up a data plan. The CSR told me that I should be able to go online immediately. I kept on trying for two hours but with no success. I phoned them again to ensure the starting date of my new plan. Another CSR told me that sometimes it could take a few hours before the data plan becomes effective.

My questions:
1) Some people claim that one will only be able to use the 2G or EDGE service instead of 3G in Canada. Is this correct? Is 2G or EDGE noticeably slower?
2) Is the data plan just plug n' play or do I have to configure the settings on the phone?

Thank you for all the help. I'm pretty noob when it comes to technologies.

1) That is correct, 2G only. It is incredibly slow, and is only really useful for short email checking, maybe some light (non photo) facebook use. Basically think of it as for text-based internet only.
2) You will have to enter the APN for the network you're on. Google it (or I'm sure someone knows them offhand and can post here)

Thank you very much for your prompt response.

I guess OP is wrong when he claimed the following?
i changed from iPhone 4 to this... faster internet and easy to transfer data.....

Now I feel bad about my phone...Should have bought the iPhone 4...Less headaches...

My phone can do normal calling and texting...Is there a way to change its frequency so I'll be able to use 3G in Canada?
