On the subject of the CRX in general, its been seriously under appreciated IMO.
The CRX SI and SE are two of the most well performing models from Honda's greatest era in performance. In a time when 4ws preludes were being built and the NSX was born.

Convertible CRXs are the rarest models in existence, they're even more difficult to find than an SE. Many H-T members don't even know they exist, until they see a thread made about them.
Honda originally planned to release a limited production run of 500 1st gen convertible CRXs from the factory under two sub-models. Base model convertibles were called the Straman CRX, and Si models with the convertible option were called the Straman CRX Spider. The convertible option however, cost $4995.00 so only 310 ended up being built.
An after market company, called tip top performance modified 150 CRX coupes to make them into convertibles and sent them to the dealer. I believe during the second gen.
I've heard, convertible CRXs were much more successful in Germany where 1/10 had the option.
Anyone who can fill the wholes in my knowledge would be much appreciated, theres very little info online about the convertibles.

Straman CRX, flat trunk lid and convertible, it was the inspiration for the Del Sol. |
