Nexus southbound at Huntington/Sumas is being reduced due to lack of usage. All other ports are unaffected. Provide us more detail.

saw it in the papers

It's not that big of a deal when because when the NEXUS lane is not in operation, it's pretty quiet at the normal lanes. You can use your Nexus pass there.

ahh iight

XplicitLuder 12-14-2012 08:19 PM

Is the one in blaine faster? And does it do the iris scan as well? TIA

XplicitLuder 12-28-2012 04:04 PM

what do you mean by faster? like is the date for an interview closer? i think most are about the same, just do as most do and keep checking from time to time. And yes blaine does iris scan.

ps : i asked last night when my nexus would come in...just picked it up in the mail like 10mins ago hehe oh gawd i look so bad :okay:

Friends told me that the Blaine location has a separate office for the iris scan, but it's next door or something. The Blaine location definitely has a shorter wait time from application to interview. My original interview was there and it was scheduled for Jan. Both Vancouver locations had interview times of May and June.

Ahh I see thanks. Managed to snag an April interview time, but may try Blaine for even earlier. What do you put for reason?

i did yvr for the iris scan.

Sentinel 12-30-2012 03:34 PM

I did my interview at Blaine and did the iris scan at YVR.

silva95teg 12-30-2012 07:21 PM

They told me when I did my interview at Blaine that an iris scan was being installed there. That was a couple months ago, it may be there now.

It is installed but its not at the place where you get interviewed. It's somewhere back on the Canada side. The canadian border officer give a map with the address. My interview was at 5 and the IRIS scan office closed at 430.

I ended up just going to the one in downtown before work to get my IRIS scan.

Ch28 12-31-2012 09:13 AM

Just finished my interview at YVR. Took a total of 20 minutes from start to finish, and Canadian border guard said I'll receive it in a week. Both US & Canada female border guards were super nice, so don't worry about being grilled lol. They just verify your information and go over the rules of the NEXUS program.

Just take the skytrain to YVR instead of looking and paying $$$ for parking.

Quick question

I want to apply for myself and my wife. On the GOES website it is only asking me for my information. Does my wife have to apply separately, or will it ask me at some point to enter other people's information after my application is complete?

Thanks

Each applicant needs to create their own application.

That also means that you'll need to log-in to two separate GOES accounts to monitor the status of the application and will also need to book two separate interview time slots.

NEXUS is the best thing ever. My wife and I crossed the border to do some shopping on December 30 when the regular line at the truck crossing was 75 minutes - NEXUS line did not have a wait time at all!

Each person needs to submit their own application. It's no different than applying for a passport

Flew to NY and San Fran over the Christmas break. Fucking pain in the ass flying with the Nexus pass. Even after being told many times that it's an equivalent document to a passport, the automatic check-in machines never accepted it, and after a couple of ticket mixups, the CSR would only take our passports, not our Nexus passes. Good thing we brought our passports along as backup.

It provided some benefit since we didn't have to wait in the customs lineups, but man, what a pain in the ass otherwise.

Whenever you use your nexus, you are obligated to carry your passport with you. When driving across the boarder they are more lenient. But flying, its mandatory to carry your passport, I've been asked to have my passport scanned everytime I fly from YVR and I'm crossing into US customs at the airport even after I use my nexus at the automated terminal.
