Woohooo! I just got the conditional approval email. Great start to 2014.
Took me exactly 8 weeks to get it. First available interview was Feb 25 at the Blaine office, so I'll be looking for an earlier one hopefully at YVR.

My Nexus is coming up for renewal this year, has anyone renewed theirs already and did you have to go through the same ordeal of booking interviews and such or was it more like a pay another $50 and we'll send you your new card?

^I think during reading up on other forums (including this one) that you have to go through the application process every time (check if there's a renewal one as I'm not sure whether the 2 are separate) and pay the $50. If no major information has changed, then they usually approve you right away and send you the card. Otherwise it's back to another interview.

The process is essentially the same where you book your interview online and pay the renewal fee. The only difference is the waiting time as there is little to no wait depending on the location you choose.
In my experience, I've done all my renewals at their Downtown location at the BC Hydro Building as they have the least waiting times. Book an appointment, walk in, they ask a few questions, snap a new photo and you're on your way. Wait a week or two for new NEXUS card in the mail and that's it! My most recent renewal was a year or two ago. I booked my appointment online and there were many open spots available, even on the day-of.
They don't ask you as many questions compared to the initial one. They just check to see if everything is still correct (criminal convictions, address, occupation, why you want NEXUS etc.)
Hope that helps.

For the people who already have their nexus, do you need to dress up for the interview?

FYI - if you change jobs or anything of that sort, just head to YVR and do it in person. I was in and out in under 3 minutes.

I see Canada Place as a place to get the initial enrollment. Anybody tried doing it there?

Just go really early and do some shopping in the states and on your way back show up for your interview. They're pretty good for not making you wait if you show up on time. Posted via RS Mobile |

Was conditionally approved since last week and lucky me that just now I was able to switch my May 6 @ Blaine appointment to Feb 17 appointment @ YVR
Edit:
The thing is I remember in my application, a question asked me something like if my car was ever inspected before...
Anyhow in the conditional approved letter, there is a line wrote
Vehicles that must be inspected: My Car.... My License Plate....
If my appointment is at YVR, does that means, I have to park at YVR and they will walk to the parking lot to inspect my car??? I can't go without my car? Going by Skytrain

Just FYI for those who are waiting for their interviews, my girlfriend received a notification saying that there is a temporary location at Canada place now. In the drop down menu, look for 'Canada Place'.
Her interview was originally in May at the Dunsmuir location, now it's next week Friday at Canada Place.
Check it out, there were LOTS of openings.

I don't mean for that to come across as bitchy, but I'm a bit weary moving my date up from March 9 for a place with no alleged address yet (and we don't know where the actual office is inside Canada Place).
I would, however, love to go to CP just to avoid crossing the border. Keep us posted please!
