Dang that's quick. Waited 8 weeks for mine, but granted I applied at end of November.

You're pretty much in the clear like we all say. Once you get it in the mail and use it you feel like you have a new superpower (at least I did lol)

Wow that was so easy.. I didn't get it sooner because I thought the process would be a pain in the ass.

Literally 5-6 questions each from USA and Canada that took less than 5 min. The longest part was getting my retina scan done because I couldn't open my eyes big enough for the scanner. I was in and out of there in 30 min. Playing the waiting game for the card now, said it would be about 3 weeks.

^Welcome to the club!

I was exactly in the same boat- thought the interview was basically a grilling by the US side making sure I won't smuggle drugs in my ass.

It literally couldn't be any easier (I guess if they just gave them away, but let's be real). Now I tell everyone I know to get it or tell them that I'm not driving them to the border lol

anyone know if it's possible to FLY using a nexus card only?

passport expires in June and I'll be going to LAX / LAS from YVR.

I'd call CBSA but they are closed.. looking for instant answers here until I CBSA opens tomr :)

mb_ 05-22-2014 07:31 PM

Iirc you need to have your passport as well if you're travelling by air

Technically no, but you definitely can get through Customs in Vancouver without ever showing your passport. (going outbound to the US) Since you don't clear customs in the US coming home, you could argue that you could get on the plane with just an ID and go through NEXUS to clear customs in Vancouver. However, whether you could get past security in LAX with NEXUS is iffy. Last time I flew out of BLI to LAS, they won't let me use my NEXUS card as ID.

Got my confirmation today and was able to book a date for the interview in July.

Harvey Specter 06-16-2014 06:36 PM

Found a time for this Thursday!

One quick question, on the site it says the YVR office is near the Starbucks, is it located beside the Starbucks or?

beatdownvictim 06-16-2014 06:42 PM

Beside it on third floor US side

How long from the day of your application to...your confirmation?

Applied first week of May, got the conditional approval letter June 11th. I was initially booked for the interview in Oct, found a new date for July 13th and today found a opening for this Wed (18th) not Thursday as I posted above. I was able to find my wife a date for this Friday at the Main St. office.

It's good to check everyday, I just left the site open on my desktop and kept going back and fourth between June - July every 5 minutes or so and lucky for a date popped up and I was able to book it.

Fuck, that means bare minimum one month + before I can use it, even if I check for a slot everyday.

Did you already apply?

Only few days ago. Got a trip at end of July that I want to use Global Entry at US Airports....which is eligible for Nexus holders.

Harvey Specter 06-16-2014 09:26 PM

Yah, it'll definitely be longer than July. Even if you're lucky and get an interview before you leave, you still have to factor the time it takes for the card to be delivered.

And the global entry at US airports is one of the reasons why I got the Nexus pass.

Harvey Specter 06-18-2014 12:55 PM

Completed my interview, took 15 minutes if that. Interview was a breeze and both gaurds were friendly. Make sure you have your birth certificate because they ask for it, now have to wait 2 weeks to my card, yipppieeeeeee.

This. For you not born here, bring your citizenship card. It isn't listed as a required document for the interview (I'm not sure why), but it's a hassle if you don't bring it.

Actually, the best thing to do during the application was to use a birth certificate/citizenship as your required document (instead of a passport). This way there's less updating on GOES/CBSA in person.

v_tec 06-18-2014 11:45 PM

Haven't looked in detail at the list of stuff to bring yet.

But besides the passport + birth cert/citizenship card, did you guys bring letters/utility bills with your address, that 'proof' your a resident of Canada?

Harvey Specter 06-18-2014 11:59 PM

Are you born in Canada? If you are than a passport + birth cert + drivers license is good enough.

Drivers license is proof of address. The above notes everything you need to bring. Don't forget the letter notifying of your conditional acceptance, and to be safe I'd probably bring a copy of your application as well.

v_tec 06-20-2014 02:14 AM

Thanks everyone. I'll look at it in greater details at a later time, and just bring everything to be on the safe side.

On the other note, I thought it's either CAD $50 or USD $50?
My credit card got charged as $50 USD / $56 CAD.

Is that because I used the American 'GOES' website to apply...and $50 CAD's only when applying through the paper process?

GOES is the US side of the process, so applying online is $50USD. I'm not sure if it's still USD when applying via papers.

Harvey Specter 06-26-2014 02:00 PM

Just got my nexus card and my god my picture looks so bad. It looks like a bad PS crop done by some 5 year old lol.
