Yeah it's weird. For a trusted traveller program, you'd think they'd put a premium on images.

Mine is taken on an angle from below my face. Totally F'd up.

Can I go down using nexus even though my passport is expired?

Traum 06-26-2014 08:38 PM

^^ On land crossings, that should not be a problem at all. If you are going by sea or air, however, that would probably not work.

Ch28 06-27-2014 12:00 AM

This is the general rule of thumb when it comes to whether you need just the Nexus card, passport, or both.

Land = Nexus
Air & sea = Nexus & passport

Harvey Specter 06-27-2014 07:39 PM

Is the left lane for Nexus? That's a pretty big lineup.

Traum 06-27-2014 07:58 PM

^^ Nope, at Peach Arch, the right most lane (ie. the lane furtherest left in the picture) is the Nexus lane.

Yes I went down a few weeks ago when my passport was being renewed. No questions asked.

skholla 06-27-2014 09:05 PM

^ yep I did the same thing... And when my new one came I logged into GOES online and updated my passport number.

It's closed after 9PM normally so you wouldn't be able to use it right now anyways.

Harvey Specter 06-28-2014 03:16 PM

Sorry guys, didn't know that picture updates itself so snapped a screenshot.

Here's what I was talking about;

That nexus lane isn't that long, theres traffic lights in the back that only let's like 50 cars through every 15-20 minutes. It's used to reduce emissions in the border area and people are required to turn off their engines

Isn't that the Truck Crossing time of closure? I'm pretty sure Peach Arch Nexus closes at midnight.

Harvey Specter 06-28-2014 09:09 PM

You're correct, it's 12am coming into Canada via Blaine.

FYI:

Hours of service into Canada
Seven days a week
7 a.m. to midnight

Hours of service into U.S.
Seven days a week
6 a.m. to 9 p.m.

That picture is pointing southbound to US. It closes at 9. I'm pretty certain of that since I drove down the NEXUS lane once a few months ago at 10PM and had to cut across to the regular lanes after I realized the lane was closed.

EDIT: Just realized riff raff posted the hours. Confirms the 9PM close time for southbound.

Harvey Specter 06-29-2014 09:00 PM

Went for a gas run, it was a 120 minute wait coming into Canada, Nexus lane not even 5 minutes. Epic.

Anyone here had their Nexus card replaced before?

I had to call into the nexus office to report my Nexus card stolen after my car was broken into few days ago.

I have to wait again for another interview, but this time I could do a walk in and the process is much faster than a person applying for first time.

Just seeing if anyone had gone through this process. Anyone?

You basically go through the entire process just like you did the first time. It's essentially a new application for NEXUS. The only thing you don't have to do is the iris scan (if you've done it already).

Question is....why would you just leave your Nexus card inside your car like that :rukidding:

I left in my center console inside after going to the US last week. I know, stupid me for leaving such a thing inside the car.

Wormiez 07-08-2014 12:07 PM

Might been asked before, could you take the Iris Scan at the Nexus office on the day of the flight and expect to use the Iris Scan right away?

Jet 07-08-2014 10:55 PM

Is anyone in the process of renewing right now? I started my renewal process like a month and a half ago and I've been checking in to see if the status has changed and its still pending review ... is it just really long now a days cause of the influx of new applicants or does it usually take this long for it to get approved

Also, what are the chances I'll have to book another interview for a renewal? I haven't really changed much, I updated my work info with a few more items but that's pretty much it ...

You'll need an interview. I think if anything changes while having a NEXUS pass, that will warrant another (and likely easier, if that's possible) interview.

I just did my scan and from what they told me it'll be active after 24 hrs, I'll doubt you'll be able to use it right away.

Why not do it early and do a drop in at the main street office. I did mine last week and it was literally under 10 minutes in and out on a Wednesday afternoon.

Hmmm, funny enough I just got an email saying that there was a change to the status of my application, so I logged in and all I got is a message stating that my application has been approved and that I can use the card as soon as I receive and activate it ... There isn't anything in the website that asks for me to book an interview so I'm assuming I'll be getting a new card in a week or 2, I guess they'll be using the same horrible picture from 5 years ago ...

I double checked to make sure I don't have to book an interview, there isn't a spot anywhere that asks me to do it (its been 5 years since I last saw this page so I don't remember what exactly I'm looking for) ... but it seems like I'm all set ... I guess I'm just lucky and my information didn't change drastically enough to require another interview ...
