You gotta keep logging into the GOES site and see if you get conditional acceptance and when you can start scheduling your interview.

This might be a dumb question but since I applied through the mail how would I know my login/pw? If I register now how would the system know I've already applied and link my new account to my already submitted application?

v_tec 10-25-2014 01:48 PM

Curious, why did you apply through regular mail and not online?

quasi 10-25-2014 02:33 PM

It seemed easier at the time but now I'm so sure. I'll get my wife to call on Monday.

Anybody cross at the borders via car over the past week or two? I went down to Blaine yesterday and noticed every second or third car was sent in for a compliance inspection with the US folks. The US CBP agents simply asked us what we were doing in the US, what we do for work, which car we drive and all you had to do was hand them the keys and take a seat. Most of us were in and out within 15 minutes tops.

This was the second time I went in for a compliance inspection in my 10+ years of membership. (Not a complaint whatsoever.)

i remember seeing a car 3 cars in front of me, get pulled into the US side. The officer gave them a orange cone that they had to put on top of their car prior to driving over for inspection. I wasn't sure what all that was about. First time i've seen that happen.

silva95teg 10-26-2014 12:59 PM

Went down this afternoon for gas, didn't see anyone sent in but it was pretty quiet.

15 minutes to inspect your bicycle???! Wow, what were the CBP agents doing...having a coffee break?

Not sure about the cone, but everyone, including myself, who was went it had an orange post-it note stuck onto our windshield which we had to bring inside with is.

It all said on it were some details, like make/model of the car, license plate, compliance inspection box ticked off and some other details I forget which.

So long story short my wife had her Nexus card revoked at YYZ back in September because she didn't declare items she purchased due to lost baggage. It was a honest mistake on her part but the customs officers revoked her card anyways.

So when we got back to Vancouver I wrote a letter explaining the situation. A couple days ago we got a response and thankfully she got her Nexus card back, the letter from the Nexus office at YYZ stated you MUST declare all items but because she had proof the items were due to the lost bag they would give the card back and remove the infraction.

Thought I would share this with you guys and another reason why you should always follow the rules down to the fine print when you're using your Nexus card. Never assume anything.

Gh0stRider 11-26-2014 11:25 PM

used the new nexus kiosks tonight, the iris scan works!!

tool001 12-03-2014 12:40 PM

got email regarding some changes to the nexus program.. anybody get this.. wasn't much info on it..

inv4zn 12-03-2014 01:26 PM

^If you had read it, there's a link to an actual document.

It outlines changes they want to make for eligibility, doesn't really affect those of us who already have it...although it may come into effect when you want to renew.

Good stuff! It's literally the hardest part of the whole process. A friend of mine, my fiancee's parents, as well as my sister all applied recently and were approved for conditional acceptance within a week. However, it looks like the earliest interviews are all in May.

bcrdukes 12-29-2014 12:29 AM

FYI for anyone who has flown in/out of YVR - the new iris scanners are 100000x better than the original one. :sweetjesus:

racerman88 01-01-2015 10:32 AM

Good to know, the old ones were a pain b/c they took so long to get a clean scan.

syee 01-01-2015 10:41 AM

Definitely. Old ones sucked big time. Step left, step right, step back, open my Asian eyes bigger. :P
Only crappy part is that you have to talk to a border agent at the booth now. (as opposed to just handing the card to the guy as you enter the gate area)

Got a conditional approval a couple of days ago. Interview is in April.

bcrdukes 01-01-2015 07:43 PM

Make sure you check the website regularly. Often people cancel for reasons unknown and a spot might pop open! :)

dachinesedude 01-01-2015 09:31 PM

and regularly as in as many times as you can

i went to the interview a week after i got the conditional approval, at YVR on a saturday too

mb_ 01-01-2015 09:56 PM

Checked every 30 minutes at work yesterday :lawl:

I just realized my passport will be expiring before my scheduled Nexus interview. I just update it on the GOES website when I get my new passport right?

If you can get the passport business all tidied up before your interview, that would be best. You could then update your passport info, then bring it with you so you can update the Canadian side with your new info all at once.

mb_ 01-03-2015 10:22 AM

Managed to get an interview at the end of the month :fullofwin:

Having a "desk job" ain't so bad after all :lawl:

superdennis 01-12-2015 09:20 PM
