I'm helping my aunt get hers and just noticed it!
You're welcome | Friend also said YVR opened up too. Got an interview for Wednesday morning.
On an unrelated note anyone know if an approved translator is required for non English speaking applicants? I have a friend who is helping their parents apply for NEXUS and they don't speak english. I can't find anything specifically for NEXUS. ICBC EDL seems to require an approved translator. I figure NEXUS will be the same but if someone who has gone through it can confirm?

You're welcome | Thanks for the heads up, re-scheduled mine to next week at YVR.
Now where is the enrollment center at YVR?
Edit: Nevermind, didn't even see this in my GOES Quote:
Directions: Level Three of the International Terminal. Near Starbucks in the US departures terminal.

EDIT: Actually, I think it moved from there to somewhere else. Might have to wait for someone else who has done it recently to respond. I haven't had an interview for NEXUS in a while...

The two official languages of Canada are English and French. They can do their interviews in either language. Also, they can make their declarations when using Nexus in English or French (only). Quote:

I certainly don't expect them to conduct the interview in the person's chosen language though I would think that some sort of translator would be allowed if needed? (at the applicant's own expense of course) I'm just wondering (if it was allowed) if it could be a family member or if it had to be a neutral 3rd party. From the sounds of what you mentioned, it seems no translator allowed - it's English or French only directly to the applicant.

If they can't go through the interview in one of the official language, then how are they suppose to make verbal/written declarations when traveling? It would be time consuming and a bit suspicious if a kid was always there to translate information.

Actually, depending on the screener, you don't even have to show the card. At YYZ, I've see people just show their BP and when scanned, it confirms the NEXUS membership. But I wouldn't assume that to be case all the time. Best to always have the card with you, just in case.

For those who applied, did you bring just your passport or both your passport and canadian citizenship card/certificate to the interview?
The Nexus website just says to bring one of either Permanent residency/passport/citizenship cert.
thanks!

I brought just my passport and DL, but then they asked for my Canadian Birth Certificate. I didn't use it for any of my application, nor did any of the documentation ask for it. But I'm supposed to go back with my Birth Certificate at some point...I'm not even sure where it is. I asked why they would request it if it's not on any of the information, and she just got surly so I dropped it. If you know where yours is, bring it along.

I wasn't born in Canada and they accepted citizenship card, driver's license and passport as identification

Yes, the site does not ask for it, but bring it just in case to save yourself a return trip.

Unfortunately you'll need to bring your citizenship card (if you weren't born here) or your birth certificate (if born here) as everyone else says. It doesn't say anywhere to bring it, but I did thinking to cover my bases while my fiancee did not. All she needed to do was go to an office and update her file within 30 days (no need to book another appointment).

Really? Dammit I think I lost my citizenship card. It was when I was in grade 4.... I have my interview this weekend too.
website:
Citizenship and admissibility
To demonstrate that you are a Canadian or U.S. citizen, you must provide one of the following documents:
In Canada
•a valid passport;
•a birth certificate and photo ID;
•a Canadian citizenship card or certificate (with photo); or
•a Certificate of Indian Status.

Exactly. ONE of the following documents. Then you show up with your passport, and they tell you that they need your Birth Certificate. Ugh, Government.

Yup, had that happen to me at the main st. location. The girl at the front got kinda snarky when I said the confirmation letter didn't mention that I had to bring my birth certificate specifically, only the form of identification I used in my application (passport). She said it actually mentions it twice in the letter, and when I asked her to show me where she changed the subject and told me it'd be up to the officer to see if I'd have to come back. Luckily I didn't have to and I was out of there in the next 5 minutes.
