Mine took about 6 weeks to arrive in the mail. I renewed it in early March and received it in the first few weeks of April.

Mine was completed in about 6 weeks as well. I initiated the renewal process online and it just suddenly showed up. They didn't ask me to come in for a new photo or anything.

Yeah I agree. My dad and I renewed ours this year and we didn’t need an interview. My mom on the other hand needed one.

^ yeah... at 6 AM but you try to fly out on a Monday at 7 AM flight, the lines are easily 30 minutes.

Does Nexus help you go through domestic airport security faster as well? Or only benefits US travel at the airport and border crossings.

Yes, there's a NEXUS line at Domestic as well where you can bypass the longer security line.

Yes it does but it doesn’t necessarily always means it’s quicker, sometimes the regular security line moves faster.

I used it on my early morning (7am) flight to Toronto and it was great. There was already a huge lineup in the regular security line at 5:50am. I think Nexus line opened at 6am, but they saw that there were already a handful of us waiting, so they opened up earlier and we walked right into the scanner area. Got so many nasty glares from people that were stuck in the regular line haha

So its been about 6 weeks (will be the 7th week on Friday), and I still haven't gotten conditional approval. Does it usually take this long for first time?

Yes. A few pages back I replied saying my daughter's brand new application was conditionally approve just about at 8 weeks or just a few days after.

Is it that bad in the morning? Planning to fly a 6am flight transborder to the States. How early would you arrive [with Nexus]?

My general rule of thumb for transborder is always 1.5 - 2 hours early. Domestic flights are usually okay for taking higher risks with time.

If you ever fly FROM toronto or transfers from Toronto, DANGGGGGGGGGG, Nexus is truly epic.

Will never forget multiple times when I whipped out my Nexus and caught my flight to Boston / Chicago / flyingback to Van etc.

Even with Nexus?

For my Asia flights, w/o Nexus, I usually only go 30-60mins early LOL

I try not to chance it anymore. I've missed too many flights because I decided to dance on the edge with the time. I once showed up an hour and fucking missed my flight because the security lines, despite NEXUS, were just way too long.

I used to pull off the 30 - 60 minute thing, but when my track record for missing flights, or barely making it to the gate on time is @ 25%, that's a real problem.

I'd rather show up 1.5 - 2 hours ahead and know I'll definitely make the flight compared to stressing out cause I didn't want to show up early. Just not worth it

Ditto. It's the time and opportunity cost that I can't afford. If I miss a flight and don't get to my destination on time, its just the beginning of a world of hurt.

Random NEXUS fact - apparently bringing stuff down to the US that you sold on eBay, forums through the NEXUS lane is considered commercial and will get you sent inside.

Went over today as I had to pick a few items up and had to ship an item I sold on eBay. The guy at the booth sent me inside for a "NEXUS violation" stating that selling stuff (even privately on eBay) is considered commercial business, and not personal and I can't use the NEXUS lane for that. Went inside and the agent inside was pretty cool about it. He mentioned that technically it's true, and it is a little silly, and I suspect he let me off the hook, saying he wouldn't have sent me inside for this.

Just an FYI in case you want to bring something over to sell/ship to someone in the US.

^This happened to a friend of mine. If I remember correctly, he brought seats down to sell them to someone through an fb group and he got turned around until he had receipt of the transaction and then they sent him inside to pay the said commercial fee. He's an RS member as well so he can chime in and provide more details if he'd like.

Does it just mean that you cannot use the Nexus lane for bringing stuff down to sell to the US? Or does it mean you cannot use the Nexus card to even cross the border to sell stuff privately?
