I didn't confirm, but I would guess that not using NEXUS card at all would be the most ideal way of taking stuff over the border to sell. That way they couldn't tie anything back to NEXUS.

If you're going to take the regular lane, and there's any risk of them revoking your NEXUS on a technicality, might as well just play it safe and not use your NEXUS at all.

I guess you can use the Nexus card as it's a form of approved ID, just not the Nexus lane as it's designed to facilitate regular/personal traffic and not commercial.

Same thing with when picking stuff up for F&F. I sometimes pick up parcels for in-laws while I'm down there. And I just make sure I use the regular lane on my way back... always just with my Nexus card.

you're not supposed to be transporting anything for other people when they aren't in the car with you. Have you told them it's for someone else and they still let you through?

i'm willing to bet if you have a valid NEXUS and used your passport instead, it'll come up on the system, and at that point they would probably question why you're not using it and possibly even tip them off you're trying to circumvent something?

I think the "not transporting for others" is just for Nexus lane?

I've always just bring the receipts that I get from Amazon, go to REGULAR lane and never had an issue.

They often ask why I wasn't using the Nexus lane, I just tell them that I was picking up all my family parcels from Amazon and they aren't technically all mine. Never have I been questioned beyond that point.

I guess if we want to generalize, I could say that they are all mine... but when I'm picking stuff like wife's undies and cosmetics... it's kinda hard to argue they are "mine". :fuckthatshit:

Verified if tools are acceptable with NEXUS Enrollment Centre today.

They said that a small roadside repair/emergency kit is allowable. But don't exceed that. It was still pretty vague, but she said to keep it vehicle related. Before I replaced everything in my e46, I used to carry all 3 tool boxes.

The issue that the previous poster had was that they brought tools in the work truck. Anything business related can not be brought over (in the Nexus lane) including files, with the exception of a laptop.

My Nexus Interview was pretty quick, it was them briefing me on how the program works. But they didn't ask me why I wanted Nexus? Pretty basic verification questions. Am I not getting approved?

This is correct. Confirmed today with enrollment office.

I can't speak to how correct this is, but the last time I got sent into secondary for bringing back stuff for someone else, they did ask me if the person I was bringing stuff back for lived in the same household as I did. (I guess the assumption here is that it would be for family) I was far too honest and said no, but I'm guessing their reason for asking this question is that maybe it's permitted to bring back stuff for immediate family. Of course, I can't find any supporting CBSA documentation for this, so take this for what it's worth....

Had done this before and if they catch you, they will interrogate you for an hour. They will literally call your bluff and ask you to give him / her name and address to confirm. Had that done once and was held up; it wasn't until the truth was told that we were released and was sent back to Canada and banned form crossing that day.

Anybody renew recently?

I applied June 18th, still Pending Review.

XplicitLuder 08-09-2018 02:42 PM

i renewed my application about 5 days ago, as mine is expiring in december. Still says pending review

J-Chow 08-10-2018 06:53 AM

I applied for renewal last month, mine expires end of October. Pending Review.

TypeRNammer 08-10-2018 11:08 AM

I believe mines took a little bit over two months for the renewal process to be completed.

No interview required.

I know it's not super recent, but if you look at the previous page, a lot of us who renewed waited about 6 - 8 weeks, and no interview was required.

A colleague of mine renewed late June and received his NEXUS just now, so about 6 to 8 weeks turnaround time seems consistent.

did they not tell you right then?
at my interview, the 2nd part was with the US officer, and he told me right there i was approved..

STILL on Pending Review...approaching 3 months.

So the nexus website says I can still use my current card up to 6 months after expiry, if I have submitted an application before expiry.

Has anyone used this option? I don't want to be hassled by some agent who doesn't know the rules.

twitchyzero 09-10-2018 08:55 PM

layover at LAX on a Saturday night
anyone used Nexus to get in/out of the city quicker by using Nexus?
I didn't put in my id number during booking, can I still use pre-check line?

If you join Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI, use your membership number as a “known traveler number” in airline reservations to receive TSA Pre✓

I've had success going to the counter and having them add my trusted traveller ID to my boarding pass when you check in. If you don't have PreCheck on your boarding pass, they won't let you go into the PreCheck line, even if you show your NEXUS.

I've crossed the border with an expired nexus card with a pending application for renewal, no issues here.

Awesome, thanks - you didn't take anything else with you other than the nexus card?

No proof of application for renewal, etc.?

inv4zn 09-12-2018 10:43 AM

Yay, finally approved.

Coincidence or not, it was approved on the day the old one expired lol. So I guess I use my old card until the new one comes?

J-Chow 09-17-2018 09:58 PM

high five. Mine was approved a few days ago!

ppck 09-18-2018 02:37 PM
