can you make two trips in one day? just go to the other lane? i would assume your card and car is still tracked so they'll know I've been over twice | $1400 is pretty much guaranteed to pay taxes. Crossing twice wouldn't make much difference as your technical tax free for same day trip is 0... officers have some leniency, but even at $700 is way too much to just wave you through... you'd have to be lucky enough to have one in REALLY GOOD mood.
Granted... crossing twice a day isn't a problem. I've had the unfortunate to leave my cell at the buffet once and had to drive all the way back as soon as I got home. Just told them what happened and I was on my way.

i'll just grab the two that add up to like $240 tomorrow.
the $900 i'll leave till the Feb long weekend. we were planning on going somewhere in the states for the weekend so that'll give me the 48hrs i need for $800 then i'll be fine

Dude your math... $900+usd is a lot more than $800cdn
That said, for the first $300 above and beyond the $800 limit it’s only a 7% special duty charge for 48hrs+
And if you have more than 1 person you each have the exemption so you can say part of it belongs to that person too...

i would be careful declaring it under a passenger
they can ask your passenger which car parts/a car or mechanical related question/other curve ball questions and they better not stumble

yes my point was there will be two of us, so $1600 Cdn
so i went down on sat to pick up some parts. asked the customs chick, she basically told me had i brought up the $900 part, because my wife was with me she probably would have let me go....oh well better not to risk it.
for parts made in canada/US what is the tax charge? just 12%?

the problem is, though that one CBSA agent may have let you through, there are probably dozens that wouldn't. it's totally discretionary.

How long in advance can renewal be applied now?
I still have 1+ year before expiration, but seeing all the comments here that renewal is taking 6+mth, I am thinking to get the renewal underway pretty much as soon as I am qualified to avoid any potential delay.

It took me around 1 month to submit my renewal and have my interview.

Renewed end of February. Got approved today. No interview needed. Total turn around time less than 2.5 weeks. Just have to wait for the card to come in the mail now, not that I'm travelling to the States anytime soon....

Same here, not that I'm in a hurry now.......... gulolol.
I think we both applied a little late. My son applied a couple of weeks prior and he had his interview 2-3 months ago. As I recall, October was when the Idiot down south, sent people and resources down to the other border.
