have you guys checked your application to see if you need to update any info? I had to update all of my previous address info again for some reason.

!LittleDragon 09-05-2020 01:40 AM

Yeah, I think that's important. I updated my employment info and verified everything was correct before I submitted the renewal. Approved the next day, got my new card the following week.

B.C. to end enhanced ID cards for U.S. border entry

I believe it's MG1 that has an EDL? Just a heads up.

MG1 06-14-2021 09:59 PM

Even if I had ED, I wouldn't admit it openly...........

ICBC or whatever government agency in charge sent me a notice well in advance of the change, but thanks for thinking of me.

whitev70r 03-17-2022 12:00 PM

Wow 2027! ... I'm in same boat, I guess I'm screwed!

I seem to recall that US Homeland Security has has extended the card validation period to something like 18 months after card expiry due to COVID. The only requirement is, you gotta submit your Nexus renewal application before your card actually expires, and then your card will remain valid for an additional 18 months beyond the indicated expiration date.

Unfortunately, I can't seem to find that particular email in my cluttered inbox, and I am not 100% certain the extension duration is 18 months. So it is best if you do some quick research beforehand just to make sure.

But I am 100% certain that there is an extension period being given -- as long as your renewal application has been submitted.

inv4zn 03-17-2022 12:52 PM

^It's 24 months -- as long as, like you said, the renewal application is submitted before expiry.

Found in the FAQ of DHS, 14th question under 'Membership'.

Ive been waiting for my renewal since july…mean while my wife renews and is approved in a month ._.

JSALES 03-18-2022 01:25 PM

My nexus expires in August, I applied to renew it last month and just received my nexus card in the mail. No interview needed.

Not really racist! 04-03-2022 09:29 PM

Anyone else get this email?

Couldn't even re-schedule an interview over the past year due to COVID...

Thank you for your interest in the NEXUS program. This is to inform you that we have received a request to cancel your NEXUS program application because of the following reason(s):

The applicant did not finalize program enrollment within the required time frame.

If at a later time you decide you would like to apply for the NEXUS program again, you must complete a new application and submit any required fees.

What a waste of money...

Did anyone see on globaltv the owner of international market place in PR had her nexus card taken away by the cbsa officer at peace arch because its expired but she had renewed and had her interviews cancelled twice. On the ttp website it specifically says

Due to a significant increase in application volume, we are extending the grace period from 18 months to 24 months for any submitted renewal application. This means you will continue to receive full benefits for 24 months while U.S. Customs and Border Protection is finalizing your renewal application.

Now im scared to go down since my renewal is in pending review hell for the last 9 months

Traum 04-04-2022 12:15 AM

Well... you don't have to be scared of going down -- just use your passport instead of your Nexus card, and you'd be all good. They can't take your Nexus card away if you weren't using it. And if it is just PR you're going to, the line up can be quite short if you choose your border crossing time wisely.

You should be okay, my wife's nexus has been expired since 2020 "conditionally approved" and we used it last night and had no problems at the land border.

Also if you're conditionally approved, you can get an on the spot interview when you fly into the USA.. but Canada interviews are resuming in May so you can book an appointment now

I applied for renewal a month before it expired (Sept.21) and still pending review.

I tried using my card on Saturday which turned into a fiasco, it popped up on their end that my card was cancelled. They couldn't elaborate why but after spending and hour inside they let me through after showing my renewal is pending but told me to use my passport from now on.

Was this on us side or canadian side?
I’ve used it twice in december to go down to bellingham and had no issues with it being expired. Was planning on going during easter weekend

Going down there wasn't much of an issue, however he closed his window, called inside quickly and then let me go without saying anything. I didn't really think much of it.

Coming back however, I was asked a million questions only pertaining to my Nexus card and application. They mentioned the only time it pops up as "cancelled" is if you're in trouble with the law and have had your passport revoked. I'm popping down to Sumas tomorrow to grab a few packages. I'll bring my Nexus card to try and see what happens.
