My gf scheduled her interview in June (I forgot what day exactly) and applied in November? December? Was conditionally approved about a month after applying.

miss_crayon 04-09-2022 09:39 PM

Did anyone apply recently in the last month or so, and get approved (for an interview)? I applied for my son but wondering how long it's taking for the application to be reviewed etc.

So I renewed my NEXUS and was approved a little while back -- I am pretty sure I didn't come across anythin that says I need an interview, and my Nexus status at the US Border / Homeland Security website says "APPROVED". But it has been more than a few weeks, and I still haven't received a new Nexus card yet. My old card hasn't expired yet because there is still time before my birthday, but it makes me wonder whether / when I'm supposed to receive a new card.

Is anyone in a similar boat? I'm guessing they always issue a new card on renewal, right?

Mine took 3 weeks to get to me after renewing in Feb. Wife's renewed in early March, 2-3 weeks from Approved status. No interview, they went from submitted to approved.

Could be just delays in processing, now with all the border restrictions lightening up. Probably got flooded with applications and renewals in the last few weeks.

My card expired in 2020, I just applied for a new one last week and it got approved today. Didn’t ask for interview or anything but also didn’t receive a new card yet.

The pass ID# is the same as before although it does say expired 2020 on the physical card

Thinkng of chancing it using the old one and seeing what they say

tiger_handheld 04-11-2022 08:48 PM

no appointments in blaine. closest is Nebraska...
is anyone else seeing the same?

Yes same issue, no dates I clicked all the way to December 2023 lol.

There is an option to do remote zoom call though, might just try that

It'll likely work once like mine did. Told me they flagged my account and if I were to use it again, they'd pull the card.

Did you end up going down last weekend?

LP700-4 04-12-2022 08:03 PM

I just went to PR with it and the guard said I can continue to use it until my new one comes... YMMV though I feel like he didn't really care or know lol

snowball 04-12-2022 09:35 PM

There was a 6-month for a while... but 2 years is definitely a lot longer than 6 months if they still have it lol.

I just renewed Nexus membership which is expiring next year. Should be interesting to see what happens and the timelines.

LP700-4 04-23-2022 12:49 PM

I did end up getting a new card in the mail so they do come just quite a bit after approval…

Would’ve liked to have a new pic but whatever lol

For anyone who hasn't travelled recently, I noticed at Toronto Pearson Airport, there are two separate lines for entering Canada for Nexus members. I don't know if it's the same in Vancouver.

One is the traditional machine where they do the iris scan and questions. The machine has improved and also allows multiple people from the same household enter their details together. The interface is a bit awkward and not the most user friendly and the camera/photo portion runs out of time very quickly (you need to take your glasses off.)

The second line is you scan or tap your card at a gate/door and it spits out a ticket and you go to the officer who waves you down. You don't need to do both. I made the mistake of doing both and the officer gave me shit as it was my first time traveling on Nexus by air for over 2.5 years. Pretty neat update and a big improvement than the original way but certainly a few odd bits and pieces for them to sort out (if ever.)

Applied for Nexus pass for the fist time ever. Fingers crossed I don't have to wait over a year.

I tried using my card on Saturday which turned into a fiasco, it popped up on their end that my card was cancelled. They couldn't elaborate why but after spending and hour inside they let me through after showing my renewal is pending but told me to use my passport from now on.

So I applied for my renewal a month prior to expiration, however it wasn't processed for nearly 2 months on their end, which means it technically "expired" and I cannot use mine.

8 months later... still pending, have checked every day.

bcrdukes 05-11-2022 12:11 PM

Wow, that's awful.

Thank goodness I submitted my application for renewal as my Nexus expires next year but my fiancée's Nexus expires at the end of the year. I'm not confident ours will be renewed in time given the backlog.

beatdownvictim 05-11-2022 05:33 PM

Meh im at 11 months pending renewal

bcrdukes 05-11-2022 11:16 PM

11 months? :inoutugh:

cdizzle_996 05-12-2022 07:08 PM

I emailed them because on the site it said 2-3 months, but now it can take up to a year

Lancerion 05-12-2022 09:39 PM

Seems like the wait times are super random. Mine expired August last year, totally forgot and crossed the border in November when they temporarily exempted the tests coming back...US side still allowed me to cross but confiscated my card. Filled out the renewal application the next day and got approved 2 months later, new card arrived in early Feb. Guess I was lucky.

freakshow 05-26-2022 07:40 AM

My wife submitted her renewal Sept 2021 (expired Dec 2021), still waiting for conditional approval.

whitev70r 05-26-2022 08:33 AM

For those who've gone through this process, once you get approval from Nexus (email notice) how long does it take to get actual card?

I don't remember exactly but from the time I applied with like the 9 pages of info to approval was maybe 4-5 weeks?

Did you already have your interview? If not, you should be in "conditional approval" stage and from there, you can book your appointment for the earliest available time. You get the card after you do your interview (or if you're one of the lucky ones who doesn't have to do one after a renewal). Mine took about a week for both the first time I applied for Nexus and after I renewed.

whitev70r 05-26-2022 03:31 PM

I got approved (no mention of approval being conditional) and no mention of an interview either ... so I hope I'm one of the lucky ones.
