got approved for renewal, never got my new card in the mail, waited waited and waited some more, finally got fed up and went in to my account to request another, so they said it'll cost $25 to resend, and my nexus still expires on the same day, doesn't get extended :lol

wife's already expired, kids due this year...seriously considering if it's worth it as i don't see us doing many road trips south. i only renewed in case i wanted to do a gas/grocery/costco run, but i think even then given exchange rate if it's worth it.

bcrdukes 12-29-2022 09:57 AM

Ouch.

I would still renew, given that you can use it down the road and not have to go through the entire process as a family from scratch.

This happened to me (sort of.) Landed in YYZ. Officer asked for my card and forgot to give it back to me. I also forgot, so double whammy. Went to the Nexus office to see if they had it. Waited and followed up 3 times, COVID pandemic, I wasn't gonna go anywhere, gave up and reported the card lost and got a new one sent for the $25 fee. FUUUUU!

About a few months ago I scheduled both my parents for interview in Blaine. About a month before the interview both of them were approved and their renewal cards were sent in the mail.

I renewed both my kids (11 and 8) but still haven’t been approved yet. I think they both need a new pictures on their card as their baby picture won’t cut it.

I’ll probably renew mine in a month or so (June expiry).

Just checked my kids' renewals. In early Dec, it was still processing. Today it's changed to conditional approval since "nov 9." Need to schedule interviews now. Mine and the wife's renewed in the fall without interviews. Blaine seems to have some openings available in Jan though.

Is there a way to apply / renew as a family?
The wife applied on her own and it's so hard to login to her account etc.

bcrdukes 12-30-2022 11:52 AM

No

No. I had to create their own emails to log into each one. Such a pain it won’t let me use a parent’s email do renew it.

I found out about this after I created email addresses for the kids but you can instantly use aliases in Gmail.

Just add a . in your Gmail email name.
Abc123@gmail.com and ABC.123@gmail.com are treated the same by Google, but other sites see them as seperate email addresses.

Update for those of you in new application or renewal limbo:

My wife's renewal sat for a while before requesting for an interview. Interview was booked months away, but magically got approved without doing the interview. Card came in the mail shortly after.

As for me, I'm waiting to see if they want an interview or not.

Hehe 01-13-2023 04:47 PM

Welp... kids and wife's cards are finally all within renewal period. Just applied for the renewal. Let's see how long it takes. :fuckthatshit:

I will come back to this once the renewal is finalized.

Hakkaboy 01-14-2023 11:23 AM

Here's a data point.

applied for a new application in July for my youngest child and just got conditonally approved a couple of days ago.

interview time slots in Blaine is more of less fully booked past May unless you can make it during weekdays...

GLOW 01-16-2023 08:36 AM

how long does it usually take for a card to arrive in the mail?

bcrdukes 01-16-2023 09:16 AM

@GLOW - On the previous page, I shared that my renewal was approved on December 5, and both me and my wife received our new cards in the mail on December 22, so just over 2.5'ish weeks. I would not be so sure if this were a brand new applicant whether the times will vary or not.

Can anyone do me a favour and see if they can get the verification text from the Nexus website? I've been unable to get them for 5 days now, but my phone gets other texts fine...

Thanks.

But fack, how does one go about fixing this lol

Matsuda 03-01-2023 11:18 PM

I had the same problem, I also have accounts for my kids and none of them were sending a text to me. I had to use my recovery key to actually log in and activate my new card

inv4zn 03-02-2023 09:02 AM

It started working a few days ago, I think the problem was on their end.

GLOW 03-03-2023 08:28 AM

wife's card expired, when she applied again, she didn't click renew...
will cbsa treat her as an entirely new applicant and thus slow and painful?

bcrdukes 03-03-2023 08:30 AM

Ouch. Probably.

Is there an option to go back in to the portal and hit renew?

I don't think you can renew if it's already expired. You have to start the renewal process BEFORE it expires, otherwise it doesn't give you the option I don't think.

bcrdukes 03-03-2023 05:25 PM

RIP. You're right.

Gh0stRider 09-30-2023 10:06 PM

renewal took 4 months. I submitted my renewal application exactly 1yr before expiry

BIC_BAWS 10-01-2023 06:44 PM

Submitted my renewal on April 29.. still waiting..
