Remember going out to buy a fresh Xmas tree with your dad as a kid?

....well, say good bye to that classic tradition....

Thats a great idea given how lazy people are becoming. I wonder where the trees are shipped from.

Even online farms are better than fake trees.

That would suck if kids lose the experience when they choose a tree with their dad and bring it home.

Not funny. You FAIL.

Picking out your own fresh tree was one of the best parts of Christmas.

I had family friends with a massive acreage who allowed us for a couple years to go hunt for a tree (usually pine rather than fur) on their land much like in Christmas Vacation but without all the hilarity. Then we moved onto buying them in parking lots. The last few years my parents can't be bothered and use my uncle's joke gift - an annoying singing christmas tree, as the actual christmas tree.

They have trees made out of fur?

interesting this was brought up,

i drove by J.O. the other day with my mom and she mentioned how barely anyone buys real trees anymore compared to 15-20 years ago when that was the only way to go.

except we've never had a real tree, too much work

I remember putting the christmas tree from ikea onto the top of our MPV and riding in the back seat with the window open holding down the two strings that kept the tree on our roof

Clean up wasn't that big of a deal was it? Those leaves are pretty easy to sweep, not anything like raking leaves in the fall

we use a fake tree just because we had a bad experience with a real tree.. im sure it was just a lemon we got but havent tried it again since.

-tree fell over twice and smashed some bulbs into the carpet
-branches were very flimsy and sagged under the weight of ornaments
-needles falling off everywhere
-dog drinking all the water haha

Choosing a tree in a lot is not a tradition.

My father, brother and I used to go to a tree farm. We'd have walk the farm in a couple feet of snow to find the perfect tree, bringing along a shovel to dig out the snow around the trunk, then cut it down and haul it home. That's a tradition.

Well it's a pretty "weak" tradition to pull a plastic tree out of a box partially decorated

These days I guess having a christmas tree up at all is a plus
