If you're going Squamish/Pemberton way, this is a nice side-trip, good way to kill an hour or two: http://picasaweb.google.com/soundy10...CallaghanLake#

You can see the trail if you zoom in on the Google Maps there... there are lots of other side-roads as well, that I didn't have time for.

Edit: okay, you can KINDA see the trail... it's all covered in snow in the satellite view, but it really stands out that way. :)

When's the RS wheeling meet? I'll flog junk...

yeah when IS the wheeling meet? hahah. i've been too busy with work to do any wheeling but i want to go badly. GabAlmighty i'll let you know next time i head out. i'm guessing hut lake isn't very stock friendly? we can try? bahaha

OTG-ZR2 01-28-2011 09:58 AM

Never been to hut lake before. Willing to try an expedition to it tho.

I better finish my bumper before hand.

Please please please don't go wheeling alone! At the very least, bring a friend, and tell a bunch of people where you're headed. Not to mention, all the gear listed above is a MUST, shovels/axe, even a jug of extra gas if you plan on heading deep into the bush. Especially if you've never been there before. Last thing you want to do is run out of gas in the middle of nowhere.

I had to learn the hard way. Wheeling alone, with no recovery gear. Got my Cherokee burried up to the doors in soupy mud/sand. 4" lift and 31" mud tires, I thought I could go anywhere! What an idiot I was. I didnt even have a proper jacket with me, and it got cold/rainy fast. Oh that was a loooong day :( It wasn't like Stave where there is always someone to help you out. I had to walk forever to get cell reception, call a buddy, then wait.

Makes me miss my Jeep though! I probably would have hung on to it if I had more people to wheel with.

nickmak 01-28-2011 08:33 PM

yeah no more wheeling alone. i'm going to pick up some recovery gear regardless

I went to Hutt a few years back in a stock first gen toy it was rough but not difficult back then

nickmak 01-29-2011 09:58 PM

we\re gonna have to make a trip up there then! see how far we can get. i saw some videos someone posted on another forum (bc4x4.com i'm pretty sure) and it didn't look stock friendly, but it could have just been certain parts? not too sure. god i can't wait for my aussie lockers..

nickmak 02-12-2011 08:45 PM

Nice dude, looks like a blast. Maybe I'll just skip the OME and save up for a SAS, seems pretty capable with no lift haha.

nickmak 04-10-2011 11:12 AM

the guys with solid axle toyotas were killing it yesterday. honestly, i want a SAS now too. ohhh money..

rodneyk 04-11-2011 10:25 PM

How is that maintenance run? I've been meaning to go but I've never had time yet. I have a 4Runner with 3" lift.

LOTS of fun and very informative. it's ever 2nd saturday of every month. i would definately go again but i normally work saturdays so i won't be able to go again until probably august. you will learn a lot and you'll get to tackle some pretty hard shit if you choose to. if theres something you're not comfortable with then you can park your truck and ride with someone else for a bit (but wheres the fun in that?) you'll do fine with a 3" lift. does your truck have a locker? i kept up with everyone else with almost no lift and just a rear locker. your truck WILL get scratched.

rodneyk 04-12-2011 08:15 PM

Was the pinstriping really bad? My truck's silver so hopefully it'll hide minor scratches.
I've only got a transfer case lock and I guess A-trac should help too lol

nickmak 04-12-2011 08:28 PM

i haven't washed my truck yet since i'm planning on go wheeling again some time soon i hope but judging by all the screetching and banging from things going across my truck, i can only assume it will be pretty bad hahah. keep in mind i wasn't exactly trying to avoid scratching the truck, i've stopped caring.

That's the spirit! I miss wheeling in BC.

You don't go seriously wheeling if you're worried about scratches... or dents, or scrapes, or flats, or rolling over...

Kinda like when we go to the dog park and people get upset if a dog jumps up and gets them muddy... like WTF were you expecting??

very true. scractches and dents add character to the vehicle too and usually make good stories to tell friends later on haha

Brianrietta 04-15-2011 04:56 PM

^^ Yep. After this I wiped the windows, wiped down the seats and steering wheel and didn't completely clean it until the end of the summer.

It was a lot of work. I should probably stick to owning quads.
