Samsung Google Nexus S Thread!

I'm pretty excited for this thing! Gingerbread 2.3, NFC, curved display, 480x800 Super AMOLED...the list goes on.

Dropping Stateside on Dec 16th.

no clue
but if ur on wind/mobilicity
just go down to the US and buy it
im a little bit disappointed buy this phone. It doesn't bring much improvement to the current gen of Android devices.

It seems to me that this is Google's push to have Android working well on those cortex processors as the SGS just had issues with the software on the SGS lines.

This phone doesn't bring much improvement over the N1 aside from the different processor and the NFC chip. We will see.

I will pick this up tho once the HSPA version gets released

question: what exactly is NFC for??

and how will it be different from my Galaxy S? (other than the fact that I hope they will have the GPS sorted out in this new "flagship")

Shouldn't this phone work on Bell, Telus, Rogers, Wind and Mobilicity?

What advantages does a curved display have over a flat one?! I'm not too familiar with Android or the phone itself but I was just curious because this one seemed to catch my attention

It does, but for HSPA speeds, you'll have to go on Wind/Mobilicity. Otherwise on Bell, Telus, Rogers, Fido it's going to max out on GPRS speeds for data.

It's more like an enhancement on the perceived usability of the screen. Things that come to mind are things like "the natural arc of the thumb", "better angle of screen vs. eyeballs", "wraps around face better"....etc.

NFC = near field communications

Think of it has super short range highspeed communications. ie.Bluetooth but ~4" apart. AFAIK. Somebody jump in if I'm wrong

definately, it's bs 2.3 is almost out and we dont even have an official 2.2 wtf

but the nexus S being pretty much identical to the galaxy S, i'm confident you'll be able to flash whatever comes out for the nexus S to the vibrants

I read that the multimedia aspect of this phone is lacking compared to its predecessor.

multimedia aspects of 2.2 wasnt great to begin with
there are MANY alternatives to media players on these phones so it honestly does not matter

and its quite embarrassing that Samsung took forever to up the SGS line to 2.2. but keep in mind, 2.1/2.2 still sucks for whatever reason on that cortex hummingbird processor. Now that the ASOP 2.3 is natively able to support that hummingbird processor means that a 2.3 port to SGS devices could happen sooner rather than later.

2.3 has been ported to Droid Eris already, N1 should be soon before the release of the Nexus S

1 use for it is you can go to a retailer and wave your phone at a register to pay for your item. Kinda like a fast pay pass.
