I know this is like picking out the pointy elbows on a hot girl.. but I just can't stand the 1-Series headlights..
anyone buying a 1 M coupe for style is buying it for the wrong reason. IMO, the E92 M3 is the best combo of performance and style.
I am dating myself, but when the E30 M3 came out, most consumers were polarized between that looks like a kit car Vs drooooollllllllll, I was in the drool camp.
The relatively light weight, compact dimensions, and tuneable FI engine makes me seriously consider a new 1 M coupe Vs a used E92 M3

huh? if you think the 1 M coupe has too little hp and you want to get a 335 that weights 300lbs more with the same hp????
Not sure how "mod-able" the 1 M is, but you can easily make the 335i do over 350hp w/ a $1000 mod.
Probably gonna get flamed for this...but I find the 1 series pretty fugly
it is like a "little person" car.....it just doesn't go well with the typical BMW image.
hate the giant front/headlights and curvy body lines as well

1M uses the N54 found in older 135i/z4 3.5/335i, the new 335is, and the new z4 3.5is.
New 135i/z4 3.5/335i's use the N55 which uses a single twin-scroll turbo set up vs the N54's two turbo set-up
The fact that it's output is identical to the z4 3.5is's version of the N54 is what has divided a lot of bmw fan boi's. But without getting into that lol, as a result it should be JUST as easily tunable as a 335i. If anything, even more so, with it's added cooling, etc.
At any rate, with it's price point around a 335is, below a Z4 3.5 is and only slightly above a 335i with a few options.
The only thing it has going against it is that its way uglier than it's brothers (imo lol)
I agree, the 1-Series as a whole is just a really ugly car, but as Z3guy said, anyone buying the 1M for looks needs to get their head checked.
That said, I can't see a ton of justification for buying the non-M 1-Series.

Rabidrat's post says the car will be "The choices are: Alpine White, Sapphire Black Metallic and Valencia Orange Metallic."

I for one love the look of the 1 series. But now this car is getting a little excessive with the 19's on such a small car. But imagine how much fun it will be on the track when I squeeze on 295/30/19 r-comps on those 19x10 rear wheels.

All 2-door coupes are for midgets, didn't you get the newsflash?
Most of the shortened wheelbase was taken out of the rear passenger compartment. Unless you are over 6'3", I doubt you would have a problem sitting in a 1'er.

It is not the actual size that makes the car midgetish
I think the 135 is just as big as cars like Golf GTI, civic, RSX..etc, but these other cars don't look like little person cars...
It is the combination of the sizes and design....1 series is like putting the look of an old man in a child size body.

M cars were never about how much HP it had, its about how it drove.
no regular BMW could compare to a M car in terms of handling and feel
even a 135i with 100 more HP, it will probably still be slower then a 1M around a track

He never said the car looked like midget, he said it was for a midget.
You fail at reading comprehension.

i wonder if BMW is going to make a BMW X3 M, that would be baus
no point, there isnt a GLK 63 to compete.
now if there IS a GLK 63, then a X3 M would be possible.

i donno.. 53k is still pretty steep.. id honestly opt for the 5.0 mustang; even if i topped up the 5.0 it would be still under the 45k mark.
of course it wouldnt be great at handling like this lil car would be. I some how just get the feeling BMWs are too played out now a days, not much identity compared to the E30 and E36s.
just my 2cents
