Hondaracer, you are SO GODDAMN LUCKY we stopped you from reading all of A Storm of Swords by accident.

SHIT.

GETS.

REAL.

I just got to...

BOOK THREE SPOILERS

Spoiler!

AMAZING story in book 3. FUCKING. AMAZING.

Ronin 08-06-2011 09:36 PM

Also...if you've read book 3, can you tell me if...

Spoiler!

Well, don't tell me if this spoils something about book 4.

Hondaracer 08-07-2011 07:01 PM

Yea I know thank god I asked the question about the book, today I went and read like 90 pages of book 2 and can't stop reading

Book 3 was the shit, lol. Too much suspense...emotional roller-coaster, especially the spoilers that Ronin highlighted.

And as for your question in your spoiler, Ronin, the answer is yes.

Alright, leave it at that. No details, thanks.

The show is now over and we can speak freely about book one spoilers, I'm sure. Agreed?

But if anyone says anything about books 2-5 without clear spoiler tags (preferably with reference to what book you're talking about) will be banned so hard...

I'm going to rename this thread sometime and put down a set of rules for discussing this series.

The first book just contains a lot more detail on many sub plots that expand later. Like in the books you learn more about Theon who becomes an increasingly important character in the later books. Same with Little Finger, The Hound, Bronn (Tyrion's mercenary) and a lot of the characters at the wall and at King's Landing.

These are pretty subtle but there are important facts here that impact things in the next book. Also it would be a REALLY quick read if you've seen the series. Since you could largely skim through some stuff.

It's just the sort of series where something small in book one turns out to be something huge by book 6. In the tv series they had to cull a lot of plot lines or it would be unmanageble for a show. In the book there's no such restrictions.

neggo 08-08-2011 11:10 AM

Spoiler from Book 4...

Spoiler!

Hondaracer 08-19-2011 02:50 PM

loving clash of kings, so happy i'm so far behind in the books, lots of reading to do :D

Ronin 08-20-2011 12:38 AM

I just began book 4. The first few chapters bored me to death but I got back into when it was time for Brienne and then Samwell.

neggo 08-24-2011 12:33 AM

^ Yup, felt the exact same way.

Matlock 08-24-2011 04:26 AM

Feast for Crows = feels boring in the beginning
Dance with Dragons = wish I paid more attention to FFC

My thoughts exactly

I used to be able to blow through 300 pages of business law in one night, and book 1 took me almost a month to finish between work and everything else.

If you go back and re read Feast you can see it in a new and much more interesting light now.

SkinnyPupp 09-04-2011 07:55 PM

I wanted to cheer out loud at the end of Arya's first 2 chapters in Storm of Swords.

Spoiler!

But knowing this series, the feel-good occasions aren't going to last long :okay:

SkinnyPupp 09-04-2011 08:04 PM

Does anyone know who they cast for some of the new characters for the 2nd season? I think someone mentioned Brienne, I am really curious who they cast for her. I wonder if they are going to glam her up, or keep her true to the book.

Hondaracer 09-05-2011 10:28 AM

If you like game of thrones on Facebook skinny they make posts almost daily with a big write up on the individual casting they are doing, who is going to Play who etc

So even now if u go like it and check out their page their wall should have all their updated casting posts

Brienne = Gwendoline Christie.

There's almost a complete list on Wikipedia already.

Roy Dotrice is playing Pyromancer Hallyne. He's the dude that does the audiobooks. I love his voices.

Hannah Murray (if you like UK TV, she was in S1 and 2 of Skins) as Gilly

Margerie Tyrell  She's pretty cute but...29 playing 16.

The woman that plays Melisandre is almost EXACTLY how I picture her in my head.
