some of you guys need to get off your "read the books" high horse :D Not everyone finds non fiction worthwhile enough to really invest a large portion of their free time too. I mean, personally I love sci fi and non fiction as much as the next guy, but I would much rather have embedded in my head from reading what happened at the Battle of the Bulge in WW2 as opposed to the Battle of the North Wall or something. An hour long show is a great alternative to spending a week+ reading a few long chapters. And on top of that, it's obvious by now that this show is NOT going to adhere strictly to the book versions, so reading the books while watching the show would bring even more confusion to the table. And that's what you guys are suggesting in the first place right ? "If you wanna know this, you wanna know that, READ THE BOOK" but the book and the show have quite a few differences from what I'm reading in here |
i agree that the book would never directly translate over to the series, and if it did it would be losing viewers by the episode the build up to Danny entering the hall of the undying was like 3 chapters that had me falling asleep each time i came to them, there's no way they could have just ran with the dialogue and build up to get her there like they did in the series the stuff they cut out or skim past isnt very important and only helps to build the characters anyways, its not like they are really changing anything drastically |
Except I really would have liked to see the frog eaters :( plus none of the Stark kids Spoiler! |
book spoiler was disappointed... Spoiler! |
Oh yeah, forgot about that part. Where's the... Spoiler! |
It's expected that they would have to leave some elements out, but what makes me sad is that they have to do so to for budget reasons. That's why you hardly ever see the wolves, dragons, warlocks. Hell, even when Jon Snow joined the Wildlings' caravan Spoiler! So it is looking more and more like a "TV Show" instead of "your imagination on screen". There is still room for a series of movies, I suppose. Considering the popularity, I think they could make at least a trilogy, if not a 6 part series like Harry Potter. Imagine Peter Jackon's Song of Ice and Fire 6 movie series :sweetjesus: |

Spoiler! I gotta say though- even though this was clearly the best episode of the season, it didn't feel (to me at least) to have the same tension or movement as last season's best episodes. But the writing in this episode was very good. I can't wait for next episode so I can watch all 10 in one go again :P |
