IIRC, Cersei planned to have Tyrion killed/injured on the battlefield, but ended up being mangled in the face while being saved by Podrick. In the show, I think that was one of the Kingsguard (the same guy who fought Syrio in S01E08).
I gotta say though- even though this was clearly the best episode of the season, it didn't feel (to me at least) to have the same tension or movement as last season's best episodes. But the writing in this episode was very good. I can't wait for next episode so I can watch all 10 in one go again :P
Wait so he isn't dead?
edit. just rewatched it. I thought he had his face slide obliquely.. Looks like it was just a a small slice.
Can anyone explain why that knight tried to kill tyrion (the one that sliced his face)??

Freaken Loras Tyrell
Ah that's his name. I always miss it with their accents lol
And did anyone else notice how Sir Loras was standing all Derek Zoolander-like before Tywin came in to the red keep. Really playing the part to a T
Speaking of Loras, was he wearing Renly's armour? The guy on the white horse had a stag helmet, and I'm assuming that was Tyrell leading the charge.
That damn fucking pussy Geoffrey why hasn't anyone pointed this little dick prick out yet? It's so fustrating to see him prance around like hes the shit when everyone around him knows hes all talk. If I was there I would call him a pussy even if it costed my head. Obviously he won't fight for shit and when the war was over and won I swear to god he was in some corner crying his balls off. I can't believe Lord Stanister or whatever actually saved the war. I thought they would lose and all the Stannisters would die

No disrespect to you, but
It seems as though you mixed the most powerful family name with one Lord/King Stannis Baratheon . Took a couple of reads to get what you were saying
It was a good episode. Kept me on the edge of my seat most of the time. Especially with the girls... the queen is crazytown. Can't wait for the season Finale!
