I dunno. Maybe I'll side with the white walkers?

Ronin 05-31-2011 07:11 PM

It's interesting that the more "civilized" parts of the world bicker and betray each other but the Dothraki seem to have a real sense of honor, even though they won't hesitate to kill each other. They look like they have each other's back against everyone else...maybe because Khal Drogo is a fucking awesome leader.

I sooooo can't wait to hear what you guys say through the last couple eps.

Really shit gets real from here on out.

bloodmack 06-01-2011 01:33 PM

lol, the land of always winter..

TheNewGirl 06-01-2011 02:28 PM

In the later books they actually spend more time beyond the wall and it's interesting. Though I don't think they ever get up into the glaciers, but definitely to the other places listed on the map north of the wall.

Later in the books you also get to find out more about what's happening in the far far south and in the other free cities and you get a MUCH more complete picture as to what the world is like.

Matlock 06-01-2011 03:08 PM

^lol they think there are a lot of characters right now.

Did you guys notice the opening sequence expands and lengthens as we explore more parts of the world? Like that place where Lady Stark's sister rules was added after they arrived in that part of the story.

SkinnyPupp 06-03-2011 09:45 PM

God it's already too long, I fast forward through it now

But maybe it seems worse when you are watching an episode every night :)

Ronin 06-05-2011 07:52 PM

FUCK KHAL DROGO IS AWESOME

That speech? :fuckyea:

I'm continually amazed by how perfect Arya is. She's EXACTLY how I pictured her and that scene with her dancing teacher went down pretty much exactly how I imagined it.

This ep was written by George RR Martin himself and I really think it shows. Both the fact that it's his book and he knows the characters best, and that he started his career in tv writing, he understands how to pace and reveal things perfectly.

I hope next season he pens a few more eps himself. If him or Jane Espenson would write every episode (hers was The Golden Crown, she's one of my hands down favorite TV writers) the series would be even more full of awesome than it already is.

Why is Ghost so goddamn noisy? The wolf is supposed to be mute.

hum, havne't read the books or anything, but i said to my friends ep8 is the best one yet. that's prolly why :)

btw look at the map for where 'the narrow sea' is. it's to the east of the island.

Hondaracer 06-07-2011 05:42 PM

Arya and the half-man have been so perfectly played the last few episodes

jonwon 06-07-2011 06:57 PM

khal drogo's a fuckin boss

Spoiler!

Ronin 06-10-2011 02:13 PM

Downloaded the audio books so I can listen while I drive or work out. Almost done the first book. The guy that reads it is epic...his Khal Drogo voice is awesome.

There's a few moments in the book not in the show but for the most part, it's much the same...and just as epic. George RR Martin's writing style is awesome.

TheNewGirl 06-10-2011 02:24 PM

Ronin, just wait till about half way through book two (where I assume they'll end season two). If you guys think shit just got real now, you're all in for a lot of shocks.

Largely I consider Game of Thrones to be the prelude for the series. This is the calmest and cleanest it really ever is.
