yeah I was under the impression his trip to the iron bank was to amass an army to make a move on king's landing, not the wall. blackwater v2 of sorts.
badass how the iron bank army just strolls in and kicks hard ass. i wonder how the books portray the strengths of the regions' armies because in my head right now (from watching the show) it seems like they rank:
1) unsullied
2) iron bank?
3) northerners
4) lannisters
5) fancy deers of high garden
Deers are baratheon

This is merely speculation as I haven't read past where the show is at but I'll spoiler it just in case.
Spoiler!
Could Jon Snow actually be the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna Stark? Making him both a Targaryn and a Stark? I remember Ned saying to Jon in an episode "One day we'll talk about your mother" but then was beheaded before that could happen. Robert didn't even know the truth which stands to reason because he would have ha him killed as an heir to the throne just like Viserys and Daenerys

This is indeed a very popular speculation. It doesn't make sense for someone as honorable as Ned to have gone away only to come back with a bastard. Definitely, he's going to play a big part in the story to come.

This is also where I think the rogue black dragon may end up. My gut tells me either Bran may control the Dragon or Jon Snow may ride him. The Wolf and The Dragon. He's already got Ghost......
I have a feeling Bran might be able to control the rogue Dragon.
I think he can only worg into creatures that are simple minded. Maybe Drogo isn't the smartest dragon and that's why hes difficult to control. Would probably make a great target to worg into.
I feel like the whole Daeny story is a waste and who knows if the dragons will ever play a part out west..... No dragon wording I recon.

The direwolves are highly intelligent creatures, definitely not simple minded so that sort of destroys that theory. I'd love to see Bran use his warg abilities on one of the dragons, but I guess we'll have to wait a few years to see

There's also a very big key to this speculation. Spoiler warning, maybe you haven't read this far in the books, I've just read it on a wiki page:
Spoiler!
The only two people to see Lyanna Stark before her death were Ned Stark and Howland Reed. Howland is speculated to be appearing soon, with many believing he will reveal Jon Snow is the son of Rhaegar and Lyanna.
Unrelated: Comicbookgirl19 released her recap of Episode 10.
I completely agree on how she analyses the changes in the Arya/Hound and Tyrion/Shae relationships from book to TV. The TV writers really fucked both of those up. It was great that they wanted to have a different take on these relationships, but if you do that, you can't have the same relationship conclusions from the books that contradict the bonds you built in the TV show.
The TV writers also need to do a better job of keeping characters in the mix and not let them be forgotten. The pacing may work in the books, but casual TV viewers forget stuff like Qyburn and his story (the guy treating the mortally wounded Gregor Clegane, first introduced ages ago and barely mentioned since), and Stannis (a lot of viewers being confused on why he showed up at the Wall).

Maybe they'll somehow tie it in with the reveal of LSH

There is also another popular theory that you can google which states that Jon Snow is Meera Reed's twin. They are the children of Rhaegar and Lyanna. Howland and Ned Stark separated them for their own safety. The theory will also remind us how Jon Snow and Meera Reed have very similar features and are about the same age in the book and in the show.
Meera didn't die in the show, so I'm still wondering if this theory could be true.

i'm hoping this theory is true as that would make Jon the true heir of the throne, even before daenerys and viserys, as rhaegar was the eldest son of the mad king...unless aegon is really alive

MAJOR BOOK SPOILER (Dance with Dragons)

Aegon is alive - he's Young Griff, the one Tyrion met up with for a little bit

Some book spoilers, mostly the usual theorizing/speculation...
Spoiler!
As much as we all would love that, he technically has no claim to the throne unless he's upgraded from bastard status. Rhaegar wasn't married to Lyanna, but rather Elia Martell. Any child born out of that wedlock would be a bastard, hence no claim to any throne. Dany still has a better claim, Viserys had he been alive even better.
The only way he sits on the throne is if he's chosen, much like Robert was after the War of the Usurper.
And assuming Griff really is who he's supposed to be (it's still left for debate you might argue), then he's got the best claim currently ahead of Dany.
Yeah she brought up Coldhands who I REALLY would have loved to see
I was really disappointed they had to leave him out. He was my favourite part of that book.

Also when Ned dreamed of the at the Tower of Joy (where he fought the kingsguard and found Lyanna) he described her dying from fever in a sea of blood. This indicates she died giving birth. Also there's the promise that she made him keep...
Why else would Rhaegar leave three knights of the Kingsguard behind while he rides off to war? To protect Lyanna and his son.
Even if Jon has rights to the throne he won't take it. Stannis offered Winterfell to him and he refused, why would he want the throne? Only way I see him on the throne is if he marries Dany.

Stannis actually never visits the Iron Bank in the books. They go to him much later on when he is already in the North. I have no idea why the show changed that.

Yep all those points lead me to believe that Jon is who we think he is. Kingsguard are only sworn to protect the royal family, specifically kings and heirs. Since Dayne et al were left by Rhaegar alone, they must've been protecting what was proposed to be royalty, who certainly wasn't Lyanna.
DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN
It's too bad we're left with just the legend of someone like Arthur Dayne. By all accounts, he was hax with a sword. "The deadliest knight in the seven kingdoms". But I guess it's best to use our imagination to try and fathom how good of a knight he was given he was superior to Selmy, Jaime, Ned, etc.
