So you can live till spring next year. Be happy that HBO's cycle is only about 8-10 months rather then 12 like most channels. |
Those of you that have read the books and watched episode 10... ...am I right in saying this is probably the episode they cut the most out of the book? As in the most scenes were removed or modified to fit TV? |
Yeah there was a big alteration in Dany's story. Not really in what happened but why it happened (and through the whole thing there's been more of those in Dany's story line then anyone else's). Spoiler! I also think the scene with Sansa and Joeffery actually was taken from the second book. |

Your spoiler makes more sense, because I simply thought that scene had something to do with some sort of myth that they implied. And I LOL'd when I watched that Joffrey scene, I shouldn't have but it did HAHA |
My wife wanted to wring Joffrey's neck at that scene after seeing Ned's head. But then she said she didn't feel bad because Sansa is an idiot :lol |
Yea Sansa is pretty dumb lol just listens to what people tell her Posted via RS Mobile |
Didn't expect that at the end. May have to pick up the books now to read over the summer. Don't think I can wait 10 months for season 2. |
$20 for 4 books in paperback or kindle form.. or pirate the PDF or audiobook :troll: I haven't done much reading on the ipad.. I think the bright screen would cause eye strain. I'm scared to even try |
I have to admit that I'm a little disappointed that they haven't shown any of the battles in the show so far. A lot of the characters have been cut out too, though I can understand that. I'm vaguely surprised they introduced Lancel as I thought the Cersai/Lancel bit didn't start until the second book. I'm also glad they let The Hound keep his understated "kindness." Maester Pycelle's vigorous/decrepit acting seems to be new, though. However, they managed to make the ending of the season much more epic than the book (it ends on the "King of the North" scene). As for Sansa, it's not that she's dumb; in fact, in the books she has quite a bit of internal turmoil between killing Joffrey/running away, and being the "perfect princess" she was raised up to be. She's the exact opposite of Arya, basically. What I'd love to see in the second season is have them make everything a bit bigger (as Skinny had mentioned earlier in the thread). The book is written in such a large scale a la Lord of the Rings and seeing the characters interact in only small rooms with only a few people standing around makes it feel almost claustrophobic. All that said, I'm looking forward seeing Jaqen and Halfhand introduced, as well as seeing Tyrion as the Hand of the King. I just thought of something... did they introduce Meera and Jojen in this season? Valar Morghulis. :D |

Spoiler! Also, Varys and Littlefinger don't need all of these "could of happened" scenes. Quote:
I really hope they get more $$$ from this first season to up the budget on the next season. I think money was the main thing holding them back from showing more battles. Blackwater could be amazing if they manage to pull it off. Can't wait for Jaqen H'ghar. As soon as I saw him next next to Biter and Rorge, I thought COOL! No Meera and Jojen yet. |
I agree with what Lomac said about the Hound. I really like his character in the book. He does some fucked up shit because he's ordered to but there's a sense of honor about him too. |
Just picked up all 4 books out currently and put the 5th one on hold. Guna be some good reading to keep me busy til next season :fuckyea: |
Spoiler! That's why I consider the first book to be a prologue. Cause THERE I feel is where the story really begins. And Jaqen H'ghar is, besides the Hound, my favorite love to hate character in the series. |

For the majority of the book, yes. However you'll come across references to scenes that were either deleted in the show or events that played out differently. Posted via RS Mobile |

The series stuck very close to the books. But as the book is about 800 pages they DID cut a lot out. I would recommend reading it over. You can probably read it very quickly having seen the show, but there will be a lot of 'ah-hah' moments as in the book you get to know what the point of view characters are thinking, not just what they're doing. So there is a great deal more insight into their motives (ESPECIALLY for Tyrion and Ned). In the book you also get a better idea of some of the secondary characters (Especially The Hound, Littlefinger, Renly, Osha and Jorah). I think this is where you get cheated the most in the series since they barely have time to develop the huge cast of main characters, the secondary tier gets neglected. |

Just watched all of season 1, what a show! I didn't like ep 9, didnt really see that coming. |
I'm going to guess we're going to see a lot more incidents where people choose honor over being smart. |
The whole story is full of mistakes which lead to unmeasurable consequences and that is what make the characters human. No one is perfect, everyone has weaknesses to some degree. Spoiler! |
