Funny how some of the instructors here, like today's from the weapons cell, bash pilots on a regular basis..... and then I field strip and reassemble the C7 with full safety precautions and function test faster than they can. I'm bored, can I have my aircraft now? Posted via RS Mobile

"Every soldier must know how to use a C7" I'm sorry, but if anyone in the Air Force, pilots especially, need to use a C7 to protect themselves from the enemy, something has seriously gone wrong and the battalion of Army dudes on security duty are dead. Just teach me the damn pistol and let that be that. Hell, I'm pretty sure that fighter techs and pilots didn't run around with C7's in Aviano and Gulf War 1. We sure as hell didn't get issued side arms during OP LIBECCIO. Although I could used one when driving into the airfield, those Sicilian drivers are fucking nuts. /rant
Haha, get used to in JD. Pilots are the butt end of every single fucking joke, won't change. The weapons cell guys are pretty cool for the most part. Sgt Debaghera (spelling?) is super cool and has some wicked stories (Engineer overseas). Then there's the few ex Airborn guys that i'm sure have done some weird ish.

I know it's not necessarily military aircraft related, but I read today that Cathay will no longer be flying 747-400 into YVR anymore. All flights will be on 777-300.
It's interesting when you think over the years, the number of 747 flying into YVR has plummeted. Off the top of my head, I think Phillipine Air, EVA Air and British Airways might be the only regularly scheduled 747 left coming into YVR. Lufthansa, Cathay, JAL, Korean Air, even Air Canada (a looong time ago) were all using 747 aircraft to/from YVR.
The 777 is just more fuel efficient is it? Cause that's what virgin is using for their direct London-Vancouver route now as well I think Posted via RS Mobile

That's certainly a benefit. Two engines use less fuel than four engines.

Philippine uses the A340 and 777 for regular service, haven't ever seen them fly a 747 in.
New Zealand Airlines sometimes brings the 747 instead of their 772

The thing with 747s is that they are getting old. The airframes have logged a lot of hours, and are getting time expired. Along with high maintenance costs, parts are becoming more scarce. Hopefully we'll see more 747-8 flying around. I know CX flies their 747-8F into Vancouver regularly.
Also to the RCAF guys...Is there any RS guys here based in CFB Trenton?

Since we're on the topic of airliners, I'll share some pictures I was lucky enough to catch of the 787 with everyone.
Straight from the Boeing factory in Seattle, I was airside in King County when Boeing decided to take the 787 for a final test flight before delivery. It was amazingly quiet and very aesthetic in real life. I can't wait til these start landing at YVR regularly.

Oh, at some point during BMOQ you'll do what's called the Warrior challenge against your sister platoon... Ask what the record is for the cart pull, I broke the school record
Did you also do 99 pushups on your express test? Did the Warrior today, waiting on confirmation that I broke the school record for the cart relay / ladder climb. I did the cart pull last unfortunately. Been sick the entire time I've been here with bronchitis and got gastro just in time for the 13k/trench dig and the obstacle course. I refused to be sent back to St-Jean and passed them all vomiting constantly as I walked, ran, and dug. Got a couple outstanding commendations and noteworthy actions from my staff. I can't wait to leave this shithole, the Garrison is just rancid.
Anyway, just waiting now on my posting to either Cold Lake or Pet.
