Damn private makes more money than me:P Gotta love getting fucked over for PLD.
That "problem" in Cold Lake could easily be solved if they just increased the PLD in that area, I'm betting right now it's close to zero when the reality of the matter is that it's in an oil town.
Hell just in Moose Jaw alone i'm paying $850 for a two bedroom apartment/suite in an old 70's era building. That's the price of a very nicely updated two bedroom suite in the suburbs in Vancouver, it's ridiculous.

Say bye bye to flight ops, the days of regular 8 turn 8's week after week are over. I think the wages are fine, what needs to be addressed is the PMQ price gouging and nonsense in PLD rates. If someone wants to rent or buy in the civilian market they are on their own, but why should Military families get screwed over on PMQs.

I think there's approx 10-15 people ahead of me so i'm hoping my wait time is just a few months. How're the PMQ's in Cold Lake? Out here they're $650 and you pay everything, so about 850-900 after all your hookups probably. Only problem out here is that not all of them are renovated and the non renovated ones are disgusting apparently haha. I'll keep my fingers crossed that a renovated one pops up when it's my turn.

During OP Ignition, the General (Blondin) came for a visit. There was a roundhouse meeting, and he specifically talked about the housing issue in Cold Lake. Also how the oil companies are trying to recruit people from forces to work in the oil sands once their time is up. From what I have been told, the PMQ's are not run by the military, a private company is managing them, that is the case here in Trenton.

You and me both Belka. I'm getting fucked for 9 months of Vancouver PLD and they still owe me two years of flight tuition money. If things don't shape up soon I may be going that route, man's gotta make money somehow...

Cheap attack jets for all! Company hopes new jet will save the Air Force a bundle - CNN.com
(CNN) -- Could the U.S. Air Force's newest warplane be something the service didn't even ask for?
That's the hope of a joint venture between Textron, the makers of Cessna airplanes and E-Z Go golf carts, and AirLand Enterprises, a small company formed by former defense and aerospace executives hoping to market a low-cost aircraft to the U.S. military.
The joint venture, Textron AirLand, introduced its Scorpion aircraft Monday during a trade show in Maryland. The two-seat, twin-engine jet is designed to tackle low vulnerability missions at a fraction of the cost of the planes that now take on those assignments.
"The aircraft's design is well matched to the Air National Guard's missions such as irregular warfare, border patrol, maritime surveillance, emergency relief, counter narcotics and air defense operations," the joint venture's website says.
According to a report from Aviation Week, F-16s, which are currently used in many of those roles, cost about $25,000 an hour to operate. Textron AirLand's goal is for the Scorpion to perform those missions at almost a tenth of that cost, Aviation Week said.
"We began development of the Scorpion in January 2012 with the objective to design, build and fly the world's most affordable tactical jet aircraft capable of performing lower-threat battlefield and homeland security missions," Textron Chairman and CEO Scott Donnelly said in a statement.
The company hasn't said how much each Scorpion will cost to make, but says it isn't breaking any technological frontiers with it.
"We relied on commercial best practices to develop a tactical jet platform with flexibility and capabilities found only in far more costly aircraft," Donnelly's statement said.
Former Air Force Secretary F. Whitten Peters, an adviser to and investor in AirLand Enterprises, said the Scorpion has cost the government nothing so far, in a budget environment where the Pentagon is trying to save every nickel it can.
Transportation of the future
"In an impressively short time, the joint venture has designed and built a capable and mission-ready aircraft with no up-front government funding. We believe Scorpion will fill a critical price and performance gap in the tactical military aircraft market," he said in a statement.
Peters told Aviation Week the Scorpion could save the Pentagon $1 billion a year in fuel costs alone.
The Scorpion will be able to carry 3,000 pounds of weapons at speeds up to 517 mph, according to the company's website. The plane's ceiling is 45,000 feet.
Besides looking for sales to the U.S. Air Force, the company hopes to market the Scorpion overseas.
The jet's first flight is expected before the end of the year, the company said.

There is no pre recs IIRC except a university degree. However if you don't have one you can spend 3 years doing a degree along with flight training with the RCAF. I'd love to fly in the airforce but the degree thing really is the kink in the chain.

Maybe try to finish the degree at Seneca while doing that flight school program they just opened up with the RCAF.
Just curious, JD, are you fully Canadian or do you have a dual citizenship? What are you doing in Idaho? Do Canadian's often get posted in the States or is that more temporary, for training operations?

JD is posted up in Cold Lake with one of the fighter squadrons and if you're a luvky OJT're you get to go on "trips/exercises" with the squadron. My friend is hoping to get down to Florida in the spring.
I believe JD was DEO
The Snecca program is pretty fucking wicked as you get 2LT pay while you're in uni. I would hope/recommend you have a bit of flight time before joining as most of those guys are failing out of PFT.
