Anyone check out Black Lightning? It's a CW show but for me it's Netflix

Produced by the people who did all my wife's favourite shows so she'll definitely watch it. The question is, do I watch it with her? I like some of her shows but not all

5th Wave

4/10

Interesting concept in a teen romance movie. It started off okay and predictable, and then it got stupid and non-logical on the final act.

I have a feeling the Trump episode is going to be complete bullshit

Which will call into question the rest of the show for me

Why do you automatically assume a show about Trump will be bullshit? The man has had a slew of lawsuits and sordid business affairs for decades now, why can't the show provide interesting insight?

For me it would be because I don't believe many people or companies look at Trump objectively.

I absolutely believe that he's shady as fuck; practically all billionaires are. But I think most of the stuff people say about him in the media is BS.

It's like watching a documentary about how everyone switching to vegan will save the world... You can watch it as entertainment, but you know the 'facts' are just bullshit with maybe a bit of truth sprinkled in here and there. I don't trust the move makers to be objective.

Bright

5.5-6/10. I can't really peg this as a good movie, but I can't really peg it as a bad movie either. It tries to go the gritty side of the fantasy world and it succeeds at that. What it fails to do is develop the characters in a meaningful way so that I can care about them.

Will Smith's family is seen for like 10 minutes and that's all you'll ever see of them. It's like in a day he can completely forget about them and do all the douchebag moves. Too many extra things to try to make Nick Jakoby look like a bad guy. We don't need side FBI douchebags trying to pin some stuff on him, Elves to talk shit about him, no need for a 10 minute locker room scene talking shit about him, no need for Orcs to talk shit about him, no need for the main character talk shit about him, no need for the character himself to talk shit about himself.

We get it, he's an Orc. Fuck, move on already.

The action was plenty but it was simply too much going on to give the movie any depth.

Altered Carbon 8/10

Pretty good cyber punk, nior type show. Reminds me of Ghost in the Shell. Good, but not binge worthy good.

The chick cop could have been casted better I feel. Her acting performance is lacking. I don't feel like she'd actually be a cop.

Edit: Just saw some familiar places, it's filmed in Vancouver as well!

I found the chick cops accent to be so heavy that it was hard to understand her at some points

The Ritual 7/10 - I actually loved it but it doesn't warrant a super high rating for uniqueness or anything. A decent watch with a decent conclusion. I kind of loved the conclusion but most wouldn't I think.

If you’re gonna watch altered carbon you pretty much have to binge watch it as it gets quite complicated towards the end and you forget what happened if you go a day or more in between

Worth the binge though imo, was a good show
