suspense was there, casting and acting was decent, smooth flow of a story, a bit of emotions with personal choice. i didn't thnik it was bad at all. What do you expect really? i'm just HAPPY there wasn't some gay ass Cloverfield ending with a gorzilla monster type ending trying to ruin a good movie. 8/10 |
i never understood why people try to approach a make-believe horror movie analytically i thought it was better than a quiet place, but that's not saying much ending is a cop out imo...would've been satisfied if they went with the book's ending bandersnatch made my head spin, and i usually like mindfuck thrillers....i honestly think i would've liked it better if it wasn't set in the 80s (very overdone these last few years)...still good fun though. didn't work on my 5 year old TV, had to fire up the xbox one x for it |
4/10 to me that ending was lame as hell because they never fully explained the "monsters" or had no clue what was causing people to commit suicide. no explanation for people who were able to handle it w/ turning bad and others dying. it was like someone wanted to make a new monster movie but didn't know how the fuck to end it proper in the dark mystery tone it was set at... overhyped?,the cast was amazing but they missed the story telling in a real way,bad endings in films ruin it for me. unlike "the mist" where you seen some crazy shit unfold with that proper ending nobody seen coming  |
Birdbox was a definite 3/10 for me. What I found more interesting, and I'm curious if you guys felt the same, but how successful the marketing campaign on that movie was? For a movie with such a small budget, Netflix were masterful in using social media to push the movie onto the public, this is clearly the new wave, ad companies are really changing the game here. I was so fancinated to see how many Facebook friends were posting about this movie, and it started making me think just how powerful social media marketing has become, as opposed to regular ad campaigns. I caught wind of that movie via Facebook and other social media, and I'm sure most of you the same. I can't think I a movie recently that was able to do that so successfully as this one. I almost came away thinking that some of these posts were fake, the movie was terrible, but my news feed would've made me to believe this was an Oscar winner. |
I refuse to watch Birdbox. Not gonna even waste my time on it. Honest opinions from people that saw it prove that marketing really drove this one rather than good content. 2 movies I watched recently on Netflix that were a pleasant surprise were. The Commuter, and Den of Thieves. They came up in my suggestions and I enjoyed them both! Berz out. |

Birdbox: 8/10. 8 because I enjoyed the movie. Overall, as everyone mentioned, no explanation as to how this apocalypse occurred. it took me this long to watch it because it's talked about online, the memes. |
I honestly didn't even know Bird Box was on Netflix, I thought it was a movie released in theaters and I only found out about it through seeing all the memes on social media. I would pause the movie here and there to see how much was time was left remaining thinking shit might turn around and get interesting but it never did for me. |
3/10 Bird Box. Might have given a higher rating if I watched the while thing blindfolded. |
Apparently bannersnatch has 5 distinct possible endings |

Bondi Rescue It's got T&A like BayWatch, but shows the daily activities of the lifeguards at Bondi Beach, Australia. We made a drinking game from it. Take a shot every time a Mainlander gets rescued. Fuckin' hammered before halfway through the episode. 7/10 |
the big short 7.5/10 really more of a dramatic version of a documentary but actually it's just a sarcastically informative movie. lol i cant believe that actually happened. |
Just watched and finished "Memories of the Alhambra". A Korean series, pretty good show. Overall theme is about this innovative augmented reality game. Pretty creative show. Maybe a 7.5/10. Not sure if there will be a season 2. |

The Ken Jeong Netflix standup wasn't bad. It was a bit slow at the start but picked up from there. |
Recently watched 2 series, Kingdom and Designated Survivor, binged through both since I'm on pat leave. I guess anything is enjoyable compare to a crying baby. |
Just Binge watch the whole Umbrella Academy series. 9.5/10. I didn't like any of the netflix original marvel shows but this. This is something else. Disney can have Marvel back. Netflix don't need Marvel to make great shows |
The cliffhanger at the end though! |
I cancelled my Netflix. The RFD in me said no more price hikes. Besides i dont use it ever |
laughed maybe 2-3 times out of an hour of the ken jeong special jokes are 95% rehashed...and making fun of small dicks or asian names gets tiresome...oh look at me i'm so rich and drop all these hollywood names. let me talk down on my medical colleagues cause i made it to hollywood! i'm sure he's an okay fella in real life, he's basically a one trick pony though, one of the largest asian american actors in the past 10 years got famous ridiculing asians with stereotypes... (yeah yeah he addressed haters on reddit etc.) the russell peters style was funny 20 years ago... |
The Fred Rogers (Mr. Rogers) documentary "Won't You Be My Neighbor?" was a fantastic watch. There was so much nostalgia during the whole movie. I can't believe that homophobic people showed up outside his funeral to protest him because he was ok with gay people. His friend put it best, "they showed up because they were intolerant of his tolerance" |
Kingdom series was dope the korean zombie set in the olden days worth a watch |
I really like Explained , Patriot Act, and One Strange Rock. Titans is pretty good too. I really hate their 3D low FPS stutterfest anime though. Godzilla and The Dragon Prince are pretty much unwatchable. |
