Dave Chappelle 8:46 was excellent. Dave is truly a master comic. Down to the nitty gritty with a VERY powerful tone but still brought it back to humour and made it receivable for the audience. It was emotional to hear him speak on the state of the world. I slow clapped when it was over.

Jeffrey Epstein Filthy Rich - Well done doc. No way that narcissistic piece of shit hung himself. What a monster.

What’s everyone watching on Netflix now? Any good movies? Shows? I’m late to the game and just got Netflix, been watching some stand up comedy.

Hondaracer 09-07-2020 02:18 PM

Have been watching the Umbrella Academy, pretty entertaining. Might be a bit hard to get into and some of the characters are kinda meh but its well written

Some of my favourites series on Netflix:
The Last Kingdom
The Witcher
Stranger Things
Formula 1 Drive to Survive (if you're a fan)
Money Heist (season 1 was good, 2 was ok)
Full Metal Alchemist (favourite anime of all time possibly)

We've been watching Midnight Diner.. I won't say it's "good" but it's "good for us". Just a nice pleasant, funny nostalgic series to wind down with at the end of each day.

I blasted through the first 2 seasons of Narcos recently. The acting/filmwork/etc was great, and the way they included old footage was really cool. The first half of season 1 moved quickly which kept it entertaining but the way it jumped around made some bits hard to follow. The later parts of S1 it slows down, and a lot of S2 is about a lot of other cartels that IDGAF about so it felt like it was dragging until the end of S2. If you're curious about Escobar maybe watch the first season and then just look up what happened after that point.

Agreed. Wasn't even on my radar then I marathoned Season 1. Wow! What a premise. Season 2 still pretty good. Wish they released the whole season at once though. Hate weekly releases.

The Social Dilemma on Netflix was pretty good. Nothing new about how social media monitors its users but interesting to hear ex-employees and tech people talk about the platforms and how closely each of them monitor certain user actions. A good idea that has now transformed into a depression-inducing mess.

Raised by wolves its on hbo

Lol, yeah I binged season 1 in 2 days and then watched first 3 episodes of season 2 now that I see it's only an episode a week I'll wait until Season two is done and then finish it.

Hondaracer 09-15-2020 06:33 PM

This as well, great show thus far, first 2 episodes were directed by Ridley Scott, so if you're an Aliens fan, tons of symbolism there.

The Vow on HBO about that Vancouver/NY sex cult has been pretty good as well.

Lovecraft Country has been a must watch for me too, it's definitely out there, but worth checking out.

white rocket 09-17-2020 01:58 PM

Liking Raised by Wolves as well. Half way through episode 2. The intro scene was basically Prometheus with all the fly overs. Definitely a Ridley Scott vibe (Alien and Aliens are my favorite movies of all time). So much happened in just the first episode so I'm hoping for an epic story line during the season.

Lovecraft Country - got about 20 minutes into the first episode then realized that it's pretty deep and I should pay better attention. Looks good so far though.

Started watching Utopia on Amazon, I'm not sure what to think yet, it's interesting. It's one of those shows where anyone can die at any time.

Enola Holmes 8.5/10

Fun movie, highly entertaining, probably one of the best 'netflix original' movies I've come across.

Great movie to watch for any parents with young daughters with general themes about female empowerment.

StylinRed 09-29-2020 12:58 AM

Capital, based off of Thomas pikettys book of the same name, if you haven't read the book, it's a must see

Edit: agreed about enola, fantastic, high quality film, surprised its a netflix film, hopefully they make the other books into movies too

mikemhg 09-29-2020 11:32 AM

^Capital is great.
