My wife started playing this, and I scoffed. The movie took a turn, and drew me in. Worth a watch.

This one is similar to that one.

I'm cancelling my Netflix sub, going back to being Jack Sparrow on the open seas.

This one was decent, but there's no way in hell that woman didn't know what was going on.

Zero sympathy for her, only the staff.

Tempted to do this as well now that Drive to Survive is done for the season. $16/mo for 1080p mediocre movies and series.

If it had 4k and HDR like every other streaming service like Disney+ and Amazon Prime I would be more inclined to keep it.

I'm paying ~25 a month for 4K. its not worth it.

A VPN is what... like 20 bucks a year?

6793026 03-22-2022 07:05 PM

wow i wonder what people are going to start watching again.
the streaming media has been huge since pandemic, but now it's all done, even peleton went down.

I'm thinking netflix + rest of these stream will have an issue in the coming 10 months once pandemic hits.

Due to competition + lack of content (will take 2-3 years for it to ramp up), I think it'll be a tough ride ahead.

It's tough with netflix,... the cost is high. Then if you go back to youtube / tv, you'll see ads. So unless you're savvy and have a way to watch stuff, people will still just keep it.

I believe there's a work around for the outrageous costs of Netflix.

But it involves using a VPN set to Turkey and purchasing a turkey Netflix gift card. Details are on RedFlagDeals.

EDIT:

On a completely unrelated topic, YouTube premium is pretty expensive on a monthly basis, but using the same method above, you can set your VPN to Argentina and subscribe to YouTube Premium Family membership for a hair over 2 bucks CAD. But you must create a family account on Google before proceeding with the VPN method

Why do all this work when the content just isn't there anymore. There's nothing keeping me.

For those who would like to know, setting up a PLEX server to stream from your laptop to your PS5/Android TV is really easy, there's step by step instructions. And its lossless casting, meaning full bandwidth streaming of 4K content, its really really good. And its Free, there's a paid version but the Free version has all the features that anyone would want.

Turning Red. Disney movie.. decent cartoon that's 100% asian focused.
Not bad. All based out of Toronto and a lot of local people drawing for it.

68style 03-23-2022 07:36 AM

Charging differing rates for data in different countries based on what its judged the local economy can handle is BS. It doesn't cost more to transfer data in 1 country vs another. If anything, it costs more to do it in poor countries because the infrastructure isn't there.

We get ripped off so bad on our rates for phones/streaming/internet it's not even funny.

Anyone ever bother setting up an Amazon Firestick for streaming (Cinema APK, etc)?

Is that still a thing, or pretty much dead?

I use it with a PC monitor in my bedroom and it's fantastic. Just make sure to get the 4K version even if not using 4K, the older one is way too slow.

I use it for Netflix, Prime and Disney though, I don't know what Cinema APK is.

blkgsr 03-24-2022 06:39 AM

we have one of the firesticks 4K.....so how do i get free tv? lol

don't quite get what you guys are saying about using a VPN and ditching netflix etc.

what's the alternative?

TypeRNammer 03-24-2022 08:55 AM

I think the Cinema APK is similar to the Popcorn APK from a few years back?

Please aware me

mikemhg 03-24-2022 11:51 AM

That's pretty much it, you can jailbreak the Firestick and utilize a bunch of those "illegal" streaming services, thus not paying for any of them, Kodi for example.

From what I recall it's a bit of a pain in the ass to setup, and you're chasing new steams/services on a semi-regular basis as their taken down.

It's hardly worth the trouble of pirating shit when it's like $10 a month otherwise.

Streamio App will give you access to everything you'll find on torrents, I use it on my Firestick daily.

Just google "Installing Streamio on Firestick" you'll find a step by step instruction, take you 5 minutes.

I also use the same app on my android phone combined with Chromecast to stream to my bedroom tv that doesn't have a firestick.

blkgsr 03-29-2022 10:21 AM

do you actually have to download the shows or they just stream?

I've been out of the torrents game for a while now

You're streaming them as in you're not physically saving them anywhere. Keep in mind though I'm not sure how different it is opposed to straight downloading if you're worried about torrents. What I mean by that is when I download torrents onto my PC I'll get an email from shaw fairly often, when i stream with Streamio I very seldom get them, maybe once every few months. I don't know what the difference is TBH, I don't use a VPN.

If anyone is looking for a new show to watch, "Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty" is pretty good.

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt10244600/

blkgsr 03-29-2022 12:05 PM

it's more the fact i don't to download physical files onto my computer. plus i didn't see how that work with a firestick any ways.

thanks for the info.

TOS'd 03-29-2022 12:25 PM

If its anything like popcorn time app on PC, then its basically P2P torrenting to your computer as it saves a video file. Recommended to use a VPN in this case.

Been watching the Wu Tang series on Disney+ (all the Hulu content is on Disney+). I expected it to be like the NWA movie where it's a dramatized version of the forming of the group... Instead, it's pretty much a completely fictional drama using Wu Tang members as characters.

It's still pretty good, with the setting, music, and recognizable characters, but not exactly what I'd expected... In the first episode, Raekwon shoots up Ghostface Killa's apartment and stashes the gun at RZA's house LUL

In reality AFAIK they'd been together since they were like 16

It's also weird to see them start out rapping with completely polished verses from the first album... RZA's beats on the other hand are done like he's figuring out his sound and how to use the tools so they did a better job with that.

Unfortunately it means they totally skip out on all the pre-Wu stuff like Prince Rakeem and Allah Justice

murd0c 04-25-2022 11:38 AM

ummm they do go into the Prince Rakeem and the reason's behind him losing that contract which is why RZA started the Wu, it also shows how he met Prince Paul which would be a Easter egg about the Gravediggaz... Also it goes into depth about writing their verses on 36 Chambers and their lines were not all polished off the bat. Are you sure you are actually watching it? lol

No you're right, they addressed all that stuff eventually in season 2. And they went back to the writing and producing in season 2, in one of the best episodes of the whole series... I've been binging the show like crazy, it's pretty good, but very disjointed as this shows us. I was going to edit my post today actually

They went from polished Wu Tang lyrics and beats out of nowhere to struggling with writing and producing in season 2... I think they weren't expecting there to be a season 2, but when it got renewed they took the opportunity to fix the issues with season 1 that I had. And yeah they got to Prince Rakeem and Genius stuff, but again they had Wu songs before that.. It's not a major issue anyway, just kind of lazy and weird, but I guess they did the best they could initially with 10 episodes.

So yeah I'm watching it lol, but it went from being bad to being good, in that aspect at least. And season 3 is coming up

Pam & Tommy - 8/10

Great show, really recommend it. It's mind blowing how good the casting was on this show, it's crazy how well both actors played into their characters of Pam and Tommy.
