just take a jug of milk form the back of all the other milk. Plus there is a chance to get a longer best before date. ;)

EmperorIS 01-04-2011 09:43 PM

Gumby 01-04-2011 09:44 PM

You do know that T&T is owned by Loblaws.

Razor Ramon HG 01-04-2011 10:09 PM

They're owned by Loblaws, but operates separately.

Cman333 01-04-2011 10:12 PM

this is pretty common practice.

I remember hearing about this shit about Safeway a couple years back.

Nothing that surprising though.

gloors 01-04-2011 10:12 PM

Damn.. One of my buddies works at Extra Foods at Champlain mall and tells me that produce manager there sells rotten shit alll the time. He doesn't care if its rotten he'll find a way to make it look nice just to sell the product its fucking nasty..

Some stores sell the "prepared meat" stuff where its marinaded and seasoned... guess what meat they use to make those?

Yep, the ones that are past the best before dates.

ae101 01-04-2011 10:55 PM

i dun about u guys but i use to work at superstore in richmond & they had really good quality control, they use to tell me to throw shit out even before they were expired so i dun know if this happens to all superstore or just richmond

my family has been shopping at superstore way before superstore richmond was even built, we shop there for the cheap prices same with save-on & safeway, i just hate cosco cuz u need a membership card for there

& TnT was sold to loblaw in 2008 & nothing has change, its still the same

hk20000 01-04-2011 10:57 PM

^ yeah the one on the show was in Coquitlam...

spideyv2 01-04-2011 11:06 PM

daaamn, superstore was my childhood grocery store :(

J-Chow 01-05-2011 01:26 AM

I'll stick to my local M&M meat shops ftw.

dinamix 01-05-2011 02:43 AM

Why is everyone so paranoid now? You guys a panicking for no no reason."sheep" mentality at it's fullest.

Best before doesn't mean it's rotten. It means "best before".

This is probably an isolated incident that has been fixed. Just because their salmon is bad doesn't mean all the food they sell is shit.

I worked in the food industry for a Long time and there is worse shit out there.

For posting that, you are now required to give off some examples :)

Here is the process of how supermarket recycle their fish and poultries as far as I know.

1. If it's one big piece, it usually means it's still fresh given the best before date is correct.

2. If it's multiple pieces (2+) that look like they are sliced up (ie. - one side of the salmon is missing it's skin), then it obviously means it's been tampered with, like cutting out the bad part of the meat and using the good part.

3. And lastly, if it's marinated and store wrapped, it usually means it's not very good.

This info is from a guy I know that use to work in the fish department at T&T.

I doubt it. People forget as soon as the story gets old and the media goes onto something else.

they took the food to a lab, and the lab worker immediately said it was rotten.
you think fish should be sold as best before, 10 days after it was originally packaged? i wouldnt knowingly eat fish thats even more than a few days old.

Gt-R R34 01-05-2011 10:35 AM

Meh, been eating fishes from chinese markets since i've been young, T&T, Great One or all those. not dead yet.

I usually get all my meats from Costco.

some_punk 01-05-2011 10:39 AM

catch your own fish, grow your own produce, raise cattle, hunt your own meat,
Saves the having to pay others. There has to be a DIY somewhere for those things

skiiipi 01-05-2011 10:40 AM

I get my meat from seafair gourmet meats, and most seafood from fisherman's warf in steveston.

You pay a little bit more, but the quality is way better.
