MindBomber 01-04-2011 06:43 PM

At least they mark down their rotting vegetables and stale bread before they try to sell it.

I wonder what event caused CTV to send in hidden cameras in the first place that captured the video?

Probably many unhappy customers or disgruntled employees calling in requesting them to do a segment on it.

HansonBoy 01-04-2011 07:06 PM

Nope.

It apparently was a CTV worker/correspondent who noticed it before and then started investigating.

My GF shops there almost every week. Good thing we pay the extra and get our meat from Safeway or Costco (hopefully it's not an issue there).

Some of the beef at Superstore looks so bad, to the point it's turning brownish-green - it's pretty gross how blatant they are about putting crap on the shelves.

7seven 01-04-2011 07:19 PM

Not surprising given that its Superstore, they've always been noted for their horrible cuts of meat and produce. Though personally I've always refused to shop at Superstore cause there are just way too many people there and its just chaos along with their horrible meat and produce.

x2 I'd rather pay the extra few dollars/cents at Save-On/Safeway/Thrifties.

To save a few extra bucks, I hit up Costco.

Or better yet, don't be lazy, and source out a half decent butcher in your area. They do exsist still, and they offer a MUCH better/healthier meat product than your grocery store. Plus you get to support a small business, and hopefully local farmers:thumbsup:

I've bought packaged sandwich meat at SuperStore which when I got home i found was brown when it should have been a pink colour. They were pretty good about it when I took it back but I think'll buy my meat elsewhere

JSALES 01-04-2011 07:53 PM

i usually always hit up costco, superstore is usually just for the simple things

geeknerd 01-04-2011 07:54 PM

dedicated meat store ftw
o and i never buy any food made/handled by superstore ex/ sushi, sandwich, salad, cut fruits, etc

Lomac 01-04-2011 08:03 PM

Neighbourhood butcher all the way :D

milkmilk101 01-04-2011 08:05 PM

That looks like something you would see in China... Oh shit.. canada is finally catching up.. hahaha

OTG-ZR2 01-04-2011 08:08 PM

any1 else grossed out by the olives out in the open with no sneeze guard?

Nocardia 01-04-2011 08:39 PM

I go to thrifty's to buy anything that is fresh, its hands down the best for meat and veggies on a consistent basis (that I have found without going to a specialty store)

Superstore for bulk items and things that last years

Euro7r 01-04-2011 08:42 PM

Why would anyone buy meat or seafood from superstore? It's not fresh, going to have major stomach problems afterwards.

twitchyzero 01-04-2011 08:51 PM

anyone else notice the hidden cam footage was time stamped 2007?
lol

cheapskate 01-04-2011 09:05 PM

I don't get why people even shop at Superstore. Their stores are depressing and ugly, they have very limited selections, and sell mostly shoddy goods.

Grocers like Save-On-Foods and Pricesmart foods offer a much better shopping environment and higher quality foods. Heck, even Walmart is better than Superstore.

Edit: I guess the guys that failed this post love superstore so much that they get offended by the slightest critique. :speechless:

tee-tea 01-04-2011 09:11 PM

Costco is where its at.

Greenstoner 01-04-2011 09:17 PM

T&T live seafood ftw

ziggyx 01-04-2011 09:23 PM

My gf and I never buy any of their dairy products, especially milk. We always see milk being left out in the open for who knows how long and then it gets put back on the shelf.

hal0g0dv2 01-04-2011 09:24 PM

they have always been super sketch for meats

dachinesedude 01-04-2011 09:34 PM

i'd hit up chinese places for fresh fish, way more selection
