Newbie to this but im looking for something to take after my work out to supplement for protein. any suggestions? |
Not sure exactly what you mean. Supplement as in along with protein? Supplement as in-place-of protein? Or a specific kind of protein powder |
after workout supplement with protein would be ideal |
What is your goal and is there something you are looking to address like joints or certain pain points etc? |
An after workout supplement with protein, so I guess what you’re looking for is just protein powder. Up to you man. 99% of people just have whey isolate powder. I don’t have a specific flavour I’d recommend, they all kinda taste not great to me. Some of them are waaaaay too sweet. Pretty much all whey isolate also include your full spectrum of BCAA’s so no need to also buy a bcaa powder. There’s also plant based protein but it’s 3x the price. My personal favourite is the premier protein ready to drink tetra packs from Costco (chocolate). It’s a big expensive but it tastes good, super smooth and doesn’t upset my tummy like some powders |
looking for something with protein, vitamins, collegen, etc. i dont need to gain crazy muscle mass but just supplements |
Just eat a balanced diet and that will cover almost all your needs for a basic gym goer. You can get protein powders that have collagen in them already (Costco sells it, 69.99 for the tub vs 49,99 for the no. Collagen). Take a mens daily multi and if you really feel like it you can grab some creatine. If you’re cutting or being pretty strict on what you eat, or doing keto or something then you can always add in extra vitamin C, potassium, fish oils, maybe glucosamine etc. |
Protein shakes are a waste of money -- they're fine as a meal supplement (at times), but they should never replace actual food. Since the shakes don't have any fiber, your body pretty much converts the stuff to fat anyways. Can't count how many times I've heard people taking 1-2 shakes per day and complaining that they're not losing weight, and if anything putting on more fat, even with regular exercise. There is a reason why every fitness influencer has their own powder, it's cheap garbage stuff that tastes like dessert, protein shakes are literally the biggest scam of the fitness industry outside of test boosters. Save your wallet and skip them. |
@fsy82 The protein powder with collagen is on sale right now at Costco. 49.99 for the big bag vs 62.99 regular (2kg) |
