Importing, getting it shipped vs flying over then driving home.

I want a car in washington, how much would flying over, getting the car then driving home and doing all the paperwork be, compared to getting it shipped over by trailer i'd assume, and idk if they'd do the paperwork but doing it that way?Forgot to mention I live in courtenay, so pretty much Vancouver.

Have you discussed this with your parents dude, because importing a car is something they will probably need to handle. You'd be in way way over your head.

Thats a nice car and a very fair price, but you can't just ship it here, it still needs to go through customs and that requires sig's.

if it's shipped I think my mom can sign it, or my sister, I mean they don't have to go far to sign right?

I'm not overly familiar with the process, but it's pretty involved dude. It involves a series of mechanical inspections and such, do some research.

salvage tiitle(due small rear end)
Unless the accident happened within the last year or so, a "small rear ender" usually doesn't result in a car getting a salvage title, even with most American insurance companies. If it's a car you're hell bent on buying, getting it inspected at a reputable bodyshop (for frame repair) and a mechanic (for suspension issues) is a must. Otherwise, run away from it.

ummm.....

you can't just drive it home.

you need to leave the car at customs border for 72 hours.... unless you do all the paper work at customs 72 hours BEFORE you cross with the car across the border.

You can drive it home, provided you get all the paperwork done, give notice to US Customs 72 hour notice and schedule the US customs export inspection.

There is a freaking sticky at the top of the page.. why doesn't the OP use that?

http://www.revscene.net/forums/impor...n-t355806.html

If the OP use an import company you save time and hassle but you pay for the privilege. You drive it back, depending on where, you have to make sure you get the insurance (depending on which state and which state you going to go over), license and import paperwork, not to mention Canadian side of the insurance, inspection etc done.

yeah pretty much what you said, didn't know how to explain... imported a few cars from U.S. before so know the process.

and the OP is 16 and doesn't have a soul, what do you expect.

Doesn't even have his N yet.

How is that a fair price for a US car with salvaged title. There are local ones that are maybe 3k more and not rebuilt, and on top of that if you're paying someone to ship it . . .

Have you heard of concept motors? I think they do this kind of work, let me know

^ LOL But seriously I think it'd be much easier if you buy a WRX from here instead of importing one..

OP doesn't realize all the fees and extra stuff he's going to have to deal with to get the car over here and make it legal here.
Do some proper research then come back to RS when you're smarter from it.

Edit:Also, this is your second thread on this matter. You could have asked this question in your other thread.
