Aren't they around the same price range? Like the M3 brand new is what like $110,000 and the porsche is what like $130,000? I don't think someone in a brand new M3 who can afford one is aspiring to own a Porsche 911. Couldn't they just go out and buy one?

I think his opinion would be more valid considering he has owned more cars than you have, Porsche included which was probably a newer year than yours and was probably even faster etc.
