I have less problem buying a car for the nice comfortable interior, gadgets, features, but not for exterior looks.

I think I can only do a RR if it has that killer cream interior, piano black wood, contrasting with a nice black/very dark gray/blue exterior.

But then, they're lacking so much performance, I can't picture myself getting an RR over a ML or X5 or Cayenne, resale value aside.

dangonay 01-28-2011 06:10 PM

LOL at people comparing a RR to an X5. A RR and an X5 share a lot of parts. A LOT. In fact, the RR electrical system is the same as an X5 (they even use the same computer modules).

So I laugh when people pull the "RR electrical issues" out of their ass and then bring up an X5 in the same sentence.

Any true car enthusiast would not touch a RR, not even a second hand one for $50K. Only consumers that want treat cars as a badge or fashion statement would buy a RR....if I was going to spend $100K+ on a SUV, the Porsche Cayenne or X5M would be a much more rewarding drive from a driver enthusiast standpoint.
Look forward to seeing your comments
he didnt say X5 doesnt have electrical issues. the cayenne and X5M are simply better performers and sportier SUVs compared to RR.

learn to read.

I know how to read, TYVM.

When somebody asks should I buy A or B, and someone replies "don't get A because it has this problem" the implication is B doesn't suffer from that problem. Likewise if someone says "B has this feature", the implication is that A lacks that feature.

That's typical of any discussion where people are making a comparison - you discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each, not the numerous things they have in common.

Seems like you're the one who needs to learn how to read.

are you telling me RR don't have electrical issues? gimmie a break....RR are one of the least reliable premium SUVs on the market period.

Death2Theft 01-29-2011 10:24 AM

So it hasn't been made clear to you that RR is exactly the type of person that wants and lives for fashion beyond her own personal means?

However, handling sucks, power is marginal (even with SC), reliability is poor (don't tell me you don't have any electrical issues), and worst of all, resale is the absolute worst of any premium SUV. Lose 50% of value in 2 yrs. No thanks.

Someone esle who can't read.

I never said anywhere that RR's were reliable or that they didn't have problems. You said they have electrical issues and I was educating you on the fact that RR and X5 use the same electrical systems and therefore have the same electrical issues.

Are you going to tell me X5's don't have electrical issues?

And who takes their 911 or M3 to the track even for a weekend club event? People rag on SUV owners for never going off-road. What's the difference between them and the sports car owners who drive their cars around town using 20% of their capabilities?

I've seen your posts regarding BMW's. You could use a little education.

No, but I'd buy one if I was looking for a luxury SUV. I'm not worried about reliability one bit as there's nothing on a RR that I can't fix myself.

I wouldn't recommend a used RR to someone else, though. Unless I didn't like them.

To all of you raging on Dangonay, let me just say one thing: I trust his opinion and knowledge on many topics (this one, included) far more than virtually anyone else on this site. Let's just say that he knows what he's talking about.

Thank you for defining the typical description of a RR owner.
