Faster Than a Polo Pony A Vroom of His Own
With its stainless-steel counters, halogen lights, and museum-style installations, D.A.D. Garage looks nothing like an everyday, oil-stained garage. Of course not—it belongs to Ralph Lauren, who owns 60 or so of the rarest, most valuable cars in the world, including a 1938 Bugatti coupe, a 1938 Alfa Romeo Mille Miglia roadster, and the world’s only 1930 Mercedes-Benz SSK “Count Trossi” roadster, all in ideal condition and all driven by the designer himself. The author plugs into the lifelong fantasy behind Lauren’s collection...
ehhhhh, I wouldn't say better. he has more money then Jay, thats the only reason his collection is so much more unique in comparison, but, Jays collection has WAY more character IMO.

I totally agree with you on the character, the character of Jay's collection easily surpasses any private or public collection in the world. Based on this article however, Ralph's collection seems more refined and carefully selected so it includes nothing but the finest examples.

Did you read the article?
None of Jay's cars look they've been driven in years either, it's because they're mostly worth $500,000+ and owned by billionaires who can afford to have them detailed every time they take them for a drive.
That takes balls to come out and let the auto world know that you changed paint tones or leather in some of these cars. I know Ferrari purists are shitting themselves.
Not sure if I agree with it or not, but good on him for doing what he wants with his stuff, and making it his own. Really neat collection, Im sure he gets a lot of joy from it.
The only thing that makes Jays collection better to me, is its more accessible, and has more common man examples. Jay has an interesting car collection, not just a rare and expensive collection. He has Hondas, Datsuns, and Mazda’s that not many other enthusiasts would really look at as worth restoring.
Plus jay seems to be more of a gear head, getting into the technology side of it, not just “oooooo that’s perdy”. He knows his shit. That’s what makes a car guy to me, and someone who you want to hear talk about cars.
i duno it seems that ralphs look more like a art museum while jays garage looks bit jam packed like a parking garage with a shit load of nice rare cars to drool on & jays has lot more american muscle
I went up to a cute chick and asked her if she'd let me take a photo of her for $30 she slapped me, she said to me that "I AIN'T A WHORE!"
But other than that I have seen every car on display in DTP just by cruising about in Richmond, thank you very much for collecting them together and get someone to sing a cover for "fuck you".
OH FUCK YOU OH OH OOOOH~

Art vs Lifestyle
One collects cars (kinda like one collects paintings, etc.) while the other takes part in them (like one takes part in actual painting). In my opinion, one who is more active in the lifestyle is more of a car guy. What are others' thoughts?

The story goes something like this: Jay's driving his F1 thinking he's the man because he's driving a super rare car. Pulls up to his looks over to his neighbors house and there is an F1 parked in the drive way. It belonged to a guest of the next door neighbor.
did you hear the story he told on top gear? something along the lines of opening up his mclaren giving a ride to a thug looking black guy who turned out to be an under cover cop lol
And he rips it down the tunnel because the under cover asked him how it sounds, and then after he gets pulled over, and jay leno starts panicking because they are gonna impound his car, the thug whips out his badge

^A friend of a friend is getting the new mclaren, and i'm hoping she can convince him to take me in a ride in it. He also gets to go to a track in spain and they will teach him how to drive his new car.
