Since we are on the topic of tires, anybody have any personal experience with the Continental Sport Contact 2?

The ///M and Pelican guys seem to love it however, no personal experience with those tires myself.

About to buy some new tires to stretch a 205/40 on a 8.5 rim. Falken 512s or 912s? I'm leaning towards 912s since theyre quieter and more up to date. but i hear the 512s stretch better... Looking for low noise, stretchability and reliability.

Looking for low noise, stretchability and reliability. | I couldn't get rid of my 912's fast enough. If someone thinks they are quiet they need to drive on some continentals or michelins. I had hankook optimos on my car before the 912s and noticed the significantly noisier tire right away. I'm in the market now for new wheels + tires. What is the general consensus on the continental DWS? Good enough to leave on year round? Otherwise I will just go for the hankook k110, seems like all the professional reviewers love it, and all say they have great wet performance which should be great to have in vancity.
EDIT: IIRC the 912's were also a pretty heavy tire, but don't quote me on that

I ran 512s a long time ago and currently 912s. 512s suck. The 912s are alright for their price range but better to keep your options open to other brands/makes. Can't say much about noise because my motor and exhaust are loud enough as it is.

PZero Rosso on special... ought to be quite good. In 225 the System Assimetrico is on special.

continental extreme dw is the shit. (not to be confused with the "DWS" which is an all season tire. a damn good one at that as well.)

For the 235/40/18 i am thinking, here are the followings:
Conti extreme contact dw
Toyo T1R
Hankook ventus V12 evo K110 (best bang of the buck?)
Sumi HTR Z III
What do you guys think?

I believe word on the street is that the T1Rs are no longer as good as the previous generation. Something about a different compound or something.

pirelli is such a recognized name brand that a lot of people think it's the best simply because it's expensive and used by manufacturers such as ferrari. put 355s in the back of any car and i guarantee they'll stick like glue lol. for a similar price, michelin ps2s will rape any pirelli summer tire in any weather condition, and probably last twice as long while doing it.

yes
but if you look on tirerack's review
DW > ps2
simply because the treadwear lasts longer
and have you seen the price of ps2??
it costs an arm and a leg
1/3 more than DW

ive never driven on ps2s but from what i've heard they're supposed to give better steering feel and more grip in the wet. but considering the prices, the DW is probably the best bet.
